BACKGROUND
In Peel Region, 1 in 5 students attending school face barriers related to poverty that prevent them from fully participating in school. Many students come to school hungry because there is no food at home. Others lack necessities like winter clothing or school supplies. Students also face difficult challenges in the home environment where a parent or guardian has lost a job or there is an emergency that requires a compassionate response.
Founded in 2019, the Peel Learning Foundation (PLF) works to remove these barriers and ensure all students have equitable opportunities to succeed in their education. Each year, an increasing number of Peel District School Board students rely on PLF during times of need.
Our goal is to raise funds to level the playing field and help students do and achieve more.
