Position Available: Board Director
Job Type: Volunteer (approx. 3 hours per month)
Location: 615 Industrial Drive Fort Erie, Ontario
Overview:
Community Living – Fort Erie (CLFE) is a non-profit organization with over 65 years of experience providing advocacy for, and support to, individuals who have intellectual challenges, and their families.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Board Members work collaboratively with the Executive Director and leadership team to guide the organization through strategic growth, ensuring strong governance and meaningful community impact.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Attend monthly Board meetings (evenings; no meetings in July and August)
• Contribute to strategic planning and organizational growth
• Ensure CLFE’s financial health by reviewing budgets, monitoring financial reports, and ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place. Provide oversight to confirm that funds are used ethically, transparently, and in alignment with CLFE’s mission and legal obligations.
• Provide insight, guidance, and oversight to support CLFE’s mission
• Act as an ambassador for CLFE within the Niagara community
• Participate in a Board committee if needed (infrequent)

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about community impact and inclusion. We welcome a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, including:
• Advocacy and community engagement
• Human Resources, policy, or governance (considered an asset)
• Non-profit or social services experience
• Finance, legal, or business experience
• Communications, marketing, or public relations
• Lived experience with disability (people with lived experience and family members are encouraged to apply)
