About the Reach Gallery Museum
The Reach is the centre of cultural and creative excellence in the Fraser Valley. We are a cultural organization that preserves and shares the stories of the Valley’s rich heritage while showcasing the best in contemporary art. We are committed to fostering a community that is connected, creative, and critical.
Role Description
As members of a governance board, Directors are responsible for setting the organization’s strategic direction, ensuring its financial sustainability, and advocating for it within the community.
2026 Recruitment Priorities
To ensure a balanced skill set and prepare for upcoming board retirements in 2027, the Governance Committee is prioritizing candidates who bring professional experience in:
- Financial Management (CPA / Treasurer-Track): We are seeking a designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) interested in shadowing our current Treasurer for one year before assuming the role of Treasurer in 2027. Key skills: Audit oversight, financial reporting, risk management.
- Visual Arts and Culture Sector: Professional artists, curators, or academic professionals with a deep understanding of the contemporary art world and museum best practices. Key skills: Sector trends, collections management insight, artistic advocacy.
- Human Resources and Labour Relations: Professionals with senior-level experience in HR planning and organizational development. Key skills: Policy development, executive evaluation, labour relations, succession planning.
- Philanthropy and Fundraising: Leaders with a track record in securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, or capital campaign management.
Board composition
The Reach is located in Stó:lō Tém:éxw, on the unceded territory of Máthxwi First Nation and Semá:th First Nation. We are actively seeking to ensure our Board better reflects our location and the communities we do and can serve. We warmly invite applications from members of Stó:lō communities and from other locally based Indigenous individuals, racialized individuals, and members of equity-deserving communities
Time Commitment
10 Board meetings per year (approx. 2 hours each).
Committee Work
Directors are expected to serve on at least one committee (Internal, External, or Governance).
Term
Directors are elected for a 3-year term, and eligible to serve a second three-year term.
