About Ever Active: Ever Active (EA) is a registered national charity based in Alberta that is focused on the well-being of children and youth. Our vision is for thriving schools and communities where children and youth grow, learn, and belong. Our mission is to lead, activate, and build capacity for settings that nurture health and well-being. We value relationships and well-being, which are at the heart of who we are and all we do. The values of inclusion, growth, community, voice, and kindness are also closely held and guide our work forward in a good way.

Opportunity: Our current Board of Directors is comprised of committed and enthusiastic individuals who bring a wide array of knowledge, expertise, and passion in school/community-based health and wellness. EA is looking for up to three positions for our Board of Directors, with one position being held for a member of the Health and Physical Education Council (HPEC). A shared passion for our values, and health and wellness is important. Competencies that would be helpful to the board are educational leadership, equity, political acumen, fund development, policy writing, or finances. The individual(s) would reside in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon Territory, or Northwest Territories and will be required to have a criminal record check completed.

The board is accountable for governance and oversight of EA through, among other things: ● Approving resolutions, bylaws, and articles; ● Approving governance policies and procedures; ● Delegating authorities commensurate with accountabilities & responsibilities; ● Setting risk and materiality tolerance levels; ● Overseeing the performance of its Directors and Executive Director; ● Setting a long-term strategic plan and; ● Setting the culture for the organization

The successful candidate(s) must be able to commit to a two-year term and should be able to devote 2-4 hours per month to:

● Attend bi-monthly board meetings via online platform (alternating months starting September) ● Participate on a Board committee and attend bi-monthly committee meetings via online platform ● Attend annual in-person events such as the AGM, strategic planning sessions, Shaping the Future

conference, and other profile-building events ● Support promotions of EA events, projects, and fundraising efforts through personal and professional

networks
