Board and Committee Members

Term : 3-years (renewable)

Overview: Deb's Circle is dedicated to building compassionate community and offering resources to support Women's Mental Health. Deb's Circle is a registered Canadian charity, promoting women's mental health by providing access to therapeutic wellness treatments. Programs and supportive sessions are focused on early prevention and establishing mutual support groups. Our goal is to foster emotional well-being through connection, creativity, and compassion.
Knowledge and Experience: Board members bring knowledge and expertise from a wide range of backgrounds that helps guide long-term strategic planning, governance, and the financial health of Deb’s Circle and its programs.

Deb’s Circle values the inclusion of all people and our board aims to be reflective of the diverse community we serve. In addition to Lived experience and a passion for mental health advocacy, we welcome board and committee members who can bring:

Professional skills particularly in the area of law, human resources, communications/marketing, finances and fundraising.

The ability to work collaboratively with others to reach decisions through constructive conversations

A strong network of connections and the ability to foster relationships that will support the growth of the organization

An understanding of the charitable / non-profit sector as well as Social Services regulations.

Responsibilities:

Provide input in the development, management, and evaluation of policies, strategic plans, and business plans

Advocate for and positively represent Deb’s Circle to the general public

Assess and mitigate risks facing the organizations

Ensure Deb’s Circle’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Participate in board committees that align with your skills and experience (e.g. Programs, Finance and Fundraising Committees)

Time Commitment: Meeting are every 2-3 months. Two (2) hours on a weekday in- person or via Zoom when needed. Location: Board meetings take place in person or via Zoom at our facility at 197 Third St. Cobourg. K9A 3L5 (www.debscircle.org)
