Voice of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD) Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of Albertans with disabilities through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Funds raised through AGLC-licensed bingo events directly support our programs and services.
Role Overview
VAD Society is seeking a Volunteer Bingo Chairperson to represent the organization at AGLC-licensed bingo events held during afternoon and evening sessions at Fort Road Bingo and Castledowns Bingo. This role is a key compliance position required by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) and helps ensure bingo operations are conducted in accordance with provincial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
The Bingo Chairperson is responsible for:
- Acting as the designated representative of VAD Society at assigned afternoon or evening bingo events
- Ensuring bingo operations comply with AGLC policies, procedures, and licensing requirements
- Providing oversight of bingo volunteers during the event
- Liaising with bingo hall staff and AGLC representatives as required
- Completing and signing required AGLC bingo documentation
- Reporting any incidents, irregularities, or concerns to VAD Society promptly
Eligibility & Requirements
To meet AGLC requirements, the successful volunteer must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be eligible to volunteer in accordance with AGLC gaming regulations
- Be reliable, punctual, and able to follow detailed procedures
- Be available for afternoon and/or evening bingo shifts
- Complete any required orientation or training provided by VAD Society
Previous bingo or gaming experience is an asset but not required.
Volunteer Recognition & Support
This is a volunteer position. In accordance with AGLC standards:
- A complimentary meal will be provided at each bingo event
- Travel costs may be reimbursed where transportation presents a barrier to participation
- Volunteers will receive training, guidance, and ongoing support
