Athletics 4 Kids (A4K) - Volunteer Secretary

Athletics 4 Kids (A4K) has the opportunity for a skilled individual to join our Board of Directors as our Secretary. A4K is a caring, inclusive charity with a goal to ensuring that kids between the ages of 5-18 are able to play and participate in sports. We believe that sport can have a positive impact on children socially, emotionally, and physically for the rest of their lives. For families experiencing poverty, the opportunity to play sports is all so often out of reach. We provide Sport4Life grants to cover registration fees for over 55 non-school-based amateur sports like swimming, lacrosse, and gymnastics.

As a member of the board member you will have the opportunity to:

• Contribute Your Expertise . We welcome professionals from all backgrounds with an interest in providing guidance and expertise to support and grow our charity.
• Expand Your Network. Connect with other talented leaders who are dedicated to our cause. Build relationships with like-minded individuals working to create positive change.
• Give Back Meaningfully. Play an active role in an organization that is improving the lives of youth and families across B.C.. You’ll get to see firsthand the impact of your efforts on those we serve.
• Amplify your Leadership Skills. Gain experience in board governance, financial oversight, fundraising, and achieving measurable results through our work.

As the secretary you will be responsible for:

• Scheduling board meetings
• Distributing reports and materials 7 days prior to meetings
• Keeping meeting minutes
• Coordinating our annual AGM
• Working with our lawyers to file required annual reports

As a working board, all A4K Directors actively contribute to the organization's success.

Board Member Responsibilities

• Attend 8 board meetings per year (mix of virtual and in-person)
• Participate on at least 1 committee and provide quarterly updates
• Support A4K events through attendance, volunteering or fundraising
• Promote fundraising initiatives and advocate for A4K within your network
• Collaborate and share ideas to help A4K expand and connect
• A belief in the power of sport to change lives
