We are a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and board members committed to serving our community with excellence and compassion.

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Manager to lead the AMA through its next chapter of growth and professionalization. As the senior staff leader, the Manager is responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the organization, in partnership with the Board of Directors and the Imam. This role is responsible for translating the Board's strategic vision into a concrete operational plan, leading a growing team of staff, and ensuring the long-term financial health and community impact of the AMA. The ideal candidate is an experienced non-profit leader, a passionate community builder, and a strategic thinker committed to serving the Ottawa Muslim community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement the decisions and strategic directions of the Board of Directors.
  • Lead a cyclical strategic planning process to develop long-term goals and strategies for the organization.
  • Advise the Board on operational requirements and assist in the development of AMA policies to ensure effective governance.
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial and operational reports are presented regularly to the Board of Directors.

2. Operational Management & Team Leadership

  • Manage, supervise, and support the professional development of all staff, including the Program Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Marketing Coordinator, and others.
  • Ensure the establishment and implementation of effective administrative, HR, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the integration of services and promote collaboration between various programs and committees to foster a unified identity.

3. Financial Management & Revenue Development

  • Develop and oversee the annual budget and ensure appropriate systems of expenditure control and financial record-keeping are in place.
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet community needs and support organizational growth.
  • Oversee all financial, project, and grants accounting in collaboration with the Bookkeeper and Treasurer.

4. Community & Stakeholder Relations

  • Engage, consult, and work closely with the Imam to ensure alignment between the spiritual and operational functions of the mosque.
  • Act as a primary spokesperson for the AMA, promoting its services and programs to the community, government agencies, and the private sector.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with other Islamic institutions and public agencies in consultation with the Board.
  • Conduct media relations in consultation with and seeking guidance from the Board.

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration) or equivalent senior-level experience.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in a non-profit or community-based organization.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial management, and fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, staff supervision, and professional development.
