We are a cities’ research and innovation nonprofit that helps communities prepare for the future. We inform the public, inspire action, and act as a catalyst for creating collaborative solutions that guide cities through a rapidly urbanizing world.

We envision cities as vibrant inclusive spaces where engaged residents are informed and inspired to build smart urban solutions. These cities enable residents to contribute to the social fabric of their communities and foster opportunities, belonging and happiness.

Position Summary

As an AI Research Analyst, you will bridge the gap between urban research and cutting-edge generative AI capabilities. You will lead the curation, structuring, and enrichment of our research repositories in dedicated Gemini Notebooks across all of our 18 research categories. Your core mission is to build these Gemini Notebook research repositories, and design high-impact prompt libraries that will allow team members to quickly answer potential policy questions and create engaging content creation related to our research.

Duties & Responsibilities

Research Curation & Knowledge Architecture

  • Analyze, vet, and select relevant internal and external research drawing from our proprietary search engine, research category definitions, and our external research database.
  • Populate category-specific Gemini Notebooks to ensure comprehensive coverage across three core thematic pillars:
    • Category Significance: Establishing why a specific research category is critical to building thriving neighbourhoods.
    • User Value: Framing why residents, urban leaders, and stakeholders should care about the category.
    • Peer Benchmarking & Best Practices: Documenting actionable examples of what other cities and neighborhoods are doing to drive performance and innovation in this area.

Prompt Engineering & Library Development

  • Design, test, and maintain robust prompt libraries tailored to distinct user personas and engagement goals, including:
    • Category-Specific Q&A: Crafting prompts that address complex, direct queries for individual research categories.
    • Cross-Category Synthesis: Building prompts that connect insights across multiple urban themes (e.g., housing density + climate resilience).
    • Content Generation: Developing creative prompts that produce engaging storytelling assets, summaries, and educational materials from research data.

Data Governance & Content Standardization

  • Manage the complete ingest process for research materials, ensuring full text and metadata are uploaded accurately to Gemini Notebooks.
  • Enforce strict, standardized file-naming conventions for seamless data retrieval
  • Audit AI output quality to ensure accuracy, eliminate hallucinations, and maintain non-profit research integrity.

Qualifications

  • Graduated or enrolled in a relevant University degree or College diploma or certificate program
  • Interest in developing their AI skills for public policy
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to keep on top of workload
  • Sound computer skills including operating Google Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to engage with our community of city makers
