PROGRAM AND SERVICE DELIVERY
Develop, administer and direct programs and services for chemically dependent adults and those affected by their addictions:
- To provide Case Management and counselling services for program participants
- To provide a variety of delivery methodologies designed to meet the service recipients’ needs including:
- Individual counselling; abstinence-based and harm reduction supports and approaches
- Support participants in developing and implementing their recovery goals
- Facilitation and co-facilitation of the group process
- Preparation and delivery of material for groups
- Referral to other service providers and resources where appropriate
- Evaluation of service recipients’ progress
- To participate in a team approach to case planning
- To perform program promotion and outreach in the community
- To act as a resource and role model for colleagues and participants alike
- To lend direct-service perspective and expertise to the assigned committees
Crisis intervention, problem-solving, and assisting participants with daily living
ADMINISTRATIVE AND STATISTICAL DUTIES
Completion of administrative and organizational responsibilities, including:
- Assessment and referral tools
- Admission and discharge forms and statistics
- Time sheets and activity logs
- Communication logs and emails
- Participant and program evaluations
- Financial management documents
- Clinical case notes and group reports
- Correspondence and report writing
Data base management and activity tracking
SUPERVISION, TEAM MEETINGS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- To engage in regular supervision with the Clinical Supervisor and/or CEO to receive feedback on job performance, plan & evaluate professional goals, engage in relevant training and report on programs & services
- To remain informed of related agencies and services for referral purposes
- To maintain all established policies/procedures & practices of the organization
- To participate in team meetings and clinical supervision
- To participate in and provide all relevant in-service training
- To provide training and guidance to new staff, students and volunteers
To perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING REQUIRED:
(a) Minimum level of education, formal training or equivalent required:
- Community College Diploma. Social Service Worker Diploma would be preferred. Eligible for registration in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and/or registration in the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
(b) Other required certificates:
- First Aid/CPR
- Satisfactory Police Clearance Check
- Valid Ontario Drivers’ Licence (may be required), and good driving record
(c) Special skills or training, or knowledge:
- All “foundational” and “basic” ‘Core Competencies’ for substance abuse professionals commensurate with role (*or engaged in a training/development plan to acquire same)
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique needs of men
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Demonstrated experience working on a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated exposure and knowledge of integrated addiction treatment frameworks
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with trauma and concepts of implementing a Trauma Informed approach and assurance of a Trauma Informed environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement a relevant training schedule
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, work under pressure, and manage competing priorities
- Proficient in PC (computer) word processing, data bases, email communications and accessing web based resources
