
Accounting Officer
Position Overview
Samawada is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Officer to support the organization's financial operations, budgeting, and reporting while ensuring accountability and transparency across our humanitarian programs.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about nonprofit accounting, financial stewardship, and using sound financial practices to maximize social impact. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate financial records, support donor reporting, and contribute to building transparent financial systems that strengthen trust with donors, partners, and communities.

What You Will Do
Accounting & Financial Management
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions and accounting records.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense tracking.
- Support monthly bank reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
- Maintain organized financial documentation and supporting records.
- Assist in monitoring cash flow and organizational expenditures.
Budgeting & Financial Reporting
- Support the preparation and monitoring of project and organizational budgets.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for donors, leadership, and grant providers.
- Track project expenditures against approved budgets.
- Help prepare financial summaries for board meetings and internal reporting.
- Contribute to transparent financial reporting through Samawada's Global Transparency Dashboard.
Grant & Donor Financial Support
- Assist with financial reporting for grants and donor-funded projects.
- Monitor funding allocations and expenditure compliance.
- Help ensure financial documentation meets donor requirements.
- Support the preparation of grant budgets and financial forecasts.
- Maintain accurate records for donor accountability and stewardship.
Financial Systems & Operations
- Assist in improving accounting processes and financial workflows.
- Support the implementation of accounting software and digital financial tools.
- Help organize financial records for audits and compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with program teams to track project expenditures.
- Recommend process improvements that increase financial efficiency and transparency.
Research & Analysis
- Analyze financial data and identify trends that support organizational decision-making.
- Assist with forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Research nonprofit accounting best practices and financial technologies.
- Support leadership with financial analysis and budget planning.
- Help evaluate opportunities to strengthen financial sustainability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with finance, fundraising, operations, technology, and program teams.
- Support financial planning for new humanitarian initiatives.
- Assist in preparing financial information for proposals and funding applications.
- Maintain organized financial files and accounting documentation.
- Contribute to building sustainable financial systems for future staff and volunteers.
