
Accounting Bookkeeping Position
Position Overview:
The Family Education and Support Centre is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Accounting/Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices, experience using Sage and Payworks Payroll system, and the ability to manage financial operations in a fast-paced, diverse, and inclusive work environment. This role supports financial oversight for over 60 employees and 35+ programs, ensuring the Centre’s financial systems remain accurate, compliant, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Reconcile bank statements and all related financial accounts monthly, quarterly or annually
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records using Sage accounting software.
- Assist with preparation of financial reports, budgeting, and year-end audit processes.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial documentation and filing systems.
- Work collaboratively with program managers to support financial tracking and reporting for over 35 programs.
- Participate in ongoing process improvements to support efficiency and accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams while upholding the organization’s values of diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting/bookkeeping experience.
- Sage software training and knowledge is required.
- Experience with Payworks Payroll system is required.
- Demonstrated experience in bank reconciliations, A/P, and A/R management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse and inclusive team setting.
- Proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Confidentiality and discretion in managing sensitive financial information.
Preferred Attributes:
- Knowledge of non-profit or community services financial operations is an asset.
- Familiarity with program budgeting and funding reporting.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Hourly salary is $30.00
