OUTREACH, EDUCATION & ACCESS TO JUSTICE ADVOCATE
The Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC) provides a broad range of free legal assistance to individuals throughout Ontario who have experienced discrimination contrary to Ontario’s Human Rights Code. The HRLSC is seeking applications for an Outreach, Education & Access to Justice Advocate to develop, coordinate, and deliver outreach and public legal information, education and awareness initiatives designed to promote stakeholder and public awareness of and equitable access to HRLSC legal services, advice and assistance respecting the infringement of rights under the Code. The role will help lead and coordinate HRLSC strategic efforts to increase and improve access to legal services and supports for people in Ontario, especially those who are most marginalized and vulnerable to discrimination. Qualifications include the ability to use knowledge of relevant theories, principles and best practices relating to community and stakeholder outreach, engagement and relationship-building and management, including to enhance service access for marginalized communities especially vulnerable to discrimination. Strong understanding of discrimination and harassment under the Ontario’s Human Rights Code and related redress processes and options. High-level computer and digital literacy skills, including website, visual/graphic design, and social media management. Commitment to applying the principles of cultural competence in performing the job responsibilities, including recognition of the need to deliver services to the public in a manner that recognizes the unique needs of the diverse communities served by the HRLSC. Standing with the Law Society of Ontario is an asset. Ability to communicate in French is not mandatory but strongly preferred. Full Job Description This is a full-time, contract position until March 2028, and is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring a combination of in-person work from the HRLSC’s Toronto head office and remote work from home, each week. This arrangement may be subject to change as part of the HRLSC’s Recovery Plan process. The HRLSC provides a competitive total compensation package. Salary range for this position is $81,060 - $98,975.65. The usual hours of work are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. How to apply
