Vancouver Food Runners

Vancouver Food Runners is a registered Canadian charity that addresses the intersection of food waste, food insecurity, and environmental sustainability. Founded in 2019, we use technology to increase access to food recovery across Metro Vancouver and support a more sustainable, circular food system.

Through our app-based model, we match surplus food from businesses and organizations with nonprofit partners serving food-insecure communities. Our volunteer drivers—known as Food Rescue Heroes—use the Vancouver Food Runners app to transport food from donors to local nonprofits. These volunteers are at the heart of our work and play a vital role in ensuring good food reaches those who need it most.
