Trans Film Mentorship

The Trans Film Mentorship (TFM) is a nonprofit organization that envisions an industry where equity-deserving professionals can access, sustain, and grow meaningful careers.

To realize this, TFM increases the presence of Trans and Non-Binary professionals through our flagship Production Training Program: providing paid, work-integrated training and mentorship for emerging and entry-level creatives. The program is delivered in conjunction with a production company and is strengthened by our partnerships with unions, guilds, and industry professionals engaged as instructors.

The Production Training Program’s success is largely based on its holistic model which integrates structured work-integrated learning with on-set support and advocacy and weekly coaching with a wellness professional. This integrated model ensures that participants not only gain access to employment, but also receive the support necessary to remain in their roles and develop the resilience necessary for the industry.

We also build and elevate the Trans filmmaking community through our signature Trans Filmmaking Summit at TIFF - the only Trans-focused summit at a premier festival. The Summit creates a dedicated platform where Trans creators can connect directly with producers and collaborators, gaining visibility, building relationships, and accessing tangible opportunities that support long-term career growth.

The Production Training Program combined with our annual Trans Filmmaker's Summit has given TFM a meaningful connection with our participants and wider community, allowing us to effectively respond to their needs with accurate and inclusive programming.
