Creating Paths to Healing: Restoring Identity; Reclaiming Justice.
Based in Toronto and Indigenous-led, Thunder Woman Healing Lodge Society (TWHLS) is a community-driven initiative formed in response to the urgent need to break the cycle of injustice that drives Indigenous women’s over-representation in Canada’s prisons.
We believe the best way to reduce the number of Indigenous women in Canada’s jails is to create opportunities for us to thrive.
We provide culturally appropriate strengths-based residential and community supports to First Nations (Status and Non-Status), Métis, and Inuit 2SLGBTQIA+ women involved with the criminal justice system and survivors of inter-generational trauma.
