About us
Since 2000, Start2Finish ("S2F") has been providing effective interventions for Indigenous, Black and other equity-deserving youth. Our mission is to break the cycle of child poverty by providing ongoing educational support to Canada’s at-risk children throughout their school years, nurturing mind, body and social health so they are empowered to succeed.
S2F was born out of the vision of BIPOC founder/social entrepreneur, Brian Warren. As a former CFL Grey Cup Champion and inner-city school teacher, he witnessed firsthand the devastating impact poverty has on kids and their learning. With a vision to eradicate the effects of child poverty and the conviction that “There are no poor minds, only poor opportunities,” Brian determined he would be a voice for the voiceless.
What has driven us is the desire to make Canada one of the best places to raise a child, and to make education and well-being not jut equal but EQUITABLE. We are not a "drive-by" program, but we take children facing poverty/deprivation from start to finish on their journey to success through our “Pathway of Hope”. This Pathway includes our Backpack Program, Running & Reading Club/R&R Club+ after-school program, Brainworx! virtual program, Daily 20 fitness program, Junior Coach Leadership Development Program, and our new THRIVE! in-school social-emotional learning resource.
Since its inception, S2F has equipped over 100,000 children and 16,000 program graduates from 70 communities nationwide with vital opportunities and skills to help them break the cycle of poverty and create a cycle of success.
