About us
Literacy Council York-Simcoe (LCYS) - Skills Upgrading Centre is a not-for-profit charity that has been operating for more than 40 years. LCYS provides free, customized training programs to assist adults (18+) in York Region and South Simcoe in improving their employment prospects, preparing for higher education, and acquiring the skills they need for a successful future.
Training in essential skills, math (numeracy), computer training/digital literacy (computer basics and MS Office), and employment-specific training workshops (Customer Service and Bookkeeping) helps adults prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education, and greater independence.
