Difficulty Ratings and How Ratings Affect the Community
Geometry Dash uses a difficulty rating system to help players identify the challenge level of each level. The official developer levels are divided into groups such as Easy, Normal, Hard, Harder, Insane, and Demon. Demons are further divided into Easy Demon, Medium Demon, Hard Demon, Insane Demon, and Extreme Demon.
The community also relies on this system to rate self-made maps. Many community websites maintain separate rankings for Extreme Demons, which are the most difficult levels and require a long period of practice. These rankings are often used by players to choose the level that best suits their skills or to set improvement goals.
Difficulty ratings also influence the creativity of map creators. Many people aim to design beautiful maps with high difficulty levels to have the opportunity to be recognized by the community. This increases competition, while also promoting the continued growth of the Geometry Dash ecosystem.
