About us
ERDO is the humanitarian agency of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. We focus on three main areas of work: child sponsorship, crisis response and community development.
ChildCARE Plus is our child sponsorship program.
ChildCARE Plus, plays a critical role in transforming communities. Without an education, children in developing countries can remain trapped in poverty and struggle against unemployment, homelessness, the constant threat of hunger, malnutrition and disease. When you sponsor a child, you become part of that child’s future, helping to release them from poverty.
Crisis Response
Natural disasters and political conflict threaten the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable families. ERDO responds to crisis situations around the world by providing timely relief through emergency food aid, economic aid, disaster restoration, and training that builds the capacity of communities to guard against future crises. Some food emergencies are matched up to 4:1. All this is done alongside Global Workers and international program partners, including the local church.
Community Development
To build long-term solutions to poverty and injustice, ERDO has programs that provide:
• Communities with access to quality nutrition and the tools and training needed to increase their food self-sufficiency
• Livelihood support and training for families and communities
• Microfinance loans to help women start or grow their small businesses
• Communities with clean water and teaching on the importance of sanitation and hygiene
• Improvement to maternal, newborn, and child health
• Vocational training and employment skills
• Matched funding up to 4:1 through our partnership with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and the Canadian Government
