About us

Potential. It exists in every young person. Yet many children and youth struggle with societal barriers and face adversities such as poverty, family instability, and identity-based discrimination. These adversities can negatively affect a young person’s future, limiting their opportunity to reach their potential. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) mentoring changes lives.

BBBS agencies have over 110 years of experience in creating, nurturing and empowering life-changing relationships for children and youth who face adversity. With the support of professional and qualified BBBS staff, trained volunteer mentors form impactful relationships that foster resiliency and ensure all young people have the opportunity to reach their potential.

Together, BBBSC and its member agencies help over 32,000 children and youth access the transformative benefits of mentoring relationships with more than 17,000 trained mentors. Together, we create spaces where young people feel seen and heard. Mentors and mentees feel included and that they belong. Our national office provides programs and supports to our member agencies to assist them in their work with parents, caregivers, school communities, mentees and volunteer mentors. BBBSC is responsible for the successful delivery and coordination of multiple National initiatives that drive innovation, collaboration and service delivery across our network.
