Position: Contract Anger Management Counselor 

Function: The purpose of this position is to facilitate CBT based Anger Management 

workshops. This position involves using trauma and violence informed care, client-centered, and 

anti-oppressive approaches to enhance clients’ level of accountability and motivation to change 

problematic thinking and behavioural patterns that puts them at risk of becoming involved with 

the criminal justice system. 

Schedule: Flexible hours - Contract Position – at least 7 hours per week 

Start Date: As soon as possible 

Location: Remote and Onsite at The Ontario Court of Justice – Toronto or Downtown Toronto 

East Justice Centre 

Reports to: Director of Justice and Court Programs (his/her designate) 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY: 

ï· To work co-operatively with Toronto Police Services, Crown Attorneys, Defence/Duty 
Council, Probation Officers and other significant community stakeholders.ï&nbsp;

ï· To review client referrals to determine program eligibility.ï&nbsp;
ï· To conduct in person/virtual client assessments or individual sessions at the OCJ-T/DTE 

Justice Centre using MIT, TTM and TVIC models.ï&nbsp;

ï· To facilitate weekly anger management workshops online or in person dependent on client 
needs.ï&nbsp;

ï· To provide immediate crisis support and resources as the need arises.ï&nbsp;
ï· To assess and determine if additional supports are required and make referrals for clients 

on bail or on probation, e.g. housing, mental health support, substance use treatment, etc.ï&nbsp;

ï· To maintain accurate documentation/records required by the program i.e. client progress 
reports, completion certificates, client database, client files, statistical records; attendance 
records.ï&nbsp;

ï· To assist in other duties as required from time to time.ï&nbsp;

ï· To attend and participate in all staff meetings, supervisory meetings and case conferences.ï&nbsp;
ï· To maintain a high degree of professionalism and accountability as a JHST staff serving 

the community.ï&nbsp;


QUALIFICATIONS: 


ï· University Degree or Post-Secondary Two-year Diploma in relevant field (i.e. Social 

Work, Social/Community Services Work; Psychology; Criminology) is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Two (2) years of related experience working in the criminal justice sector as a group 

facilitator delivering correctional or community justice programs is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Knowledge of and training in current evidence-based treatment modalities related to anger 

diffusion, impulse control and emotional regulation techniques is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Multi-Ethnic/Multi-Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity, Diversity, and Inclusion is 

required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Knowledge of community resources is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Ability to work independently in a satellite program is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Proven personal, organizational and writing skills is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Ability to use Microsoft software is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Current Non-Violent Crisis Prevention &amp; Intervention Certificate is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Valid First Aid/CPR is required.ï&nbsp;

ï· Mental Health First Aid and/or ASIST Training is preferred.ï&nbsp;

ï· Skilled to provide brief assessments to identify immediate client needs/barriers such as 

literacy, learning disabilities, homelessness, addictions and mental health is an asset.ï&nbsp;

ï· Police check with vulnerable sector screening is required.ï&nbsp;

Position: PAR Court Intake &amp; Probation Referral Worker 

Program/Service: PAR Centralised Intake and Referral Services 

Function: The purpose of this position is to complete PAR Court intakes and refer individuals on bail or 

probation with Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence charges to the PAR program best matched to their 

counselling needs. This position involves using trauma-informed, client-centered, and anti-oppressive approaches 
to motivate client accountability. 


Schedule: Full time - 37.50 hours per week Mondays to Fridays 


Start Date: July 29, 2025 


Salary: Starting at $25.60 per hour plus a competitive benefits package 

Location: Onsite - The Ontario Court of Justice – Toronto, 10 Armoury St. Toronto 

Reports to: Director of Justice and Court Programs/Team Lead, PAR Program 


Responsibilities and Authority: 

 
ï· To work co-operatively with MAG, Crown Attorneys, Defence/Duty Council, Probation Officers, VWAP, 

court staff, Police and all PAR provider agencies. 

ï· To review court and probation referrals and determine eligibility for PAR enrollment. 

ï· To conduct client intakes at the OCJ-T using MIT and TVIC models. 

ï· To determine the appropriate PAR program to meet client’s specific needs. 

ï· Complete all referral requirements as per bail or probation orders to PAR agencies. 

ï· To provide immediate crisis support and resources whenever the need arises. 

ï· To assess and determine if additional supports are required for clients on bail or on probation, e.g. housing, 
mental health support, substance use treatment, etc. 

ï· To maintain accurate documentation/records required by the program i.e. client database, client files, 
statistical records. 

ï· To assist in other duties as required from time to time.

ï· To work in collaboration with the CIRS team to maintain a high degree of professionalism and 
accountability as JHST staff serving the community.

Qualifications: 
 

ï· Post secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline (i.e. Social work, social services, criminology, 

psychology, women and gender studies, etc.). 

ï· Ability to speak, read and write French fluently is an asset. 

ï· Minimum of at least 2 years’ employment experience in the criminal justice, anti-violence or related social 
service sector is required. 

ï· Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while working in a fast paced environment and paying 
attention to detail is required. 

ï· Skilled to provide brief assessments to match referral appropriately while identifying immediate 
needs/barriers such as homelessness, addictions and mental health is required. 

ï· Understanding of IPV related policies and procedures of local police, crown attorneys, courts and probation 
as they relate to the prosecution and management of IPV offences is required. 

ï· Knowledge of current evidence-based treatment modalities related to IPV/GBV, in addition to addictions, 
male socialization, the dynamics of violence and abuse, power and control and the effects of abuse on 
victims/survivors is an asset. 

ï· Knowledge of IPV/GBV/DV and intersecting systemic issues is required. 

ï· Multi-Ethnic/Multi-Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity, Diversity, and Inclusion is required. 

ï· Knowledge of community resources is preferred. 

ï· Ability to work independently in a satellite program is required.
