Position Overview

Reports to: Chief Marketing & Communications Officer

Member of: Leadership team

The Director, Brand Experience brings Scott Mission to life—shaping how we are seen, felt, and experienced at every touchpoint. This role ensures that how we communicate and show up reflects who we are and how we serve our community—with dignity, compassion, and hope.

From our physical spaces to our digital presence to our voice in the city, you will create a cohesive, compassionate brand that builds trust, clarity, and connection with clients, donors, volunteers, partners, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the organization-wide brand strategy, identity, and positioning in partnership with the CMCO
  • Serve as an active member of the Leadership Team, contributing to the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan
  • Oversee the Brand Experience team, developing capability through coaching, mentorship, and clear performance expectations
  • Drive alignment across internal and external narratives, ensuring messaging, tone, and visual expression consistently reflect a clear and cohesive story across all audiences and touchpoints.
  • Build high-performing, insight-informed campaigns that connect emotionally and support enterprise priorities, in collaboration with fundraising and program teams
  • Translate program impact into clear, accessible, and people-centered language
  • Collaborate with fundraising teams to align brand and fundraising messaging, maintaining brand integrity
  • Oversee the production of content across all channels and platforms to attract and engage key audiences
  • Oversee paid media direction and agency partners to ensure alignment with brand and organizational priorities
  • Own and guide website strategy, content, and performance—ensuring it clearly communicates programs, access points, and opportunities to engage
  • Lead social media strategy, ensuring it reflects Scott Mission’s voice and engages audiences meaningfully
  • Guide PR and earned media strategy (with external partners as appropriate) to strengthen visibility and public presence
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with aligned organizations, brands, and events that enhance visibility and positioning
  • Monitor market trends, audience insights, and sector developments to inform brand strategy
  • Define and track key performance indicators to measure brand strength, engagement, and effectiveness

What Success Looks Like in 12 Months

  • A clear, organization-wide brand framework actively adopted by all teams—with staff confidently applying brand tools and language
  • Improved clarity in how Scott Mission is understood by external audiences
  • Consistent messaging and tone across client, partner, and public-facing materials
  • A more effective, user-centered website that clearly communicates programs and opportunities
  • Road map to strengthen external presence through strategic partnerships, events, and campaigns

Qualifications & Experience

  • 8–10+ years in brand, marketing, or communications leadership
  • Strong collaboration skills across functions (programs, development, leadership
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and deliver results
  • Experience building or evolving a brand in a complex, multi-audience organization (nonprofit an asset)
  • Strong ability to translate real-world work into clear, compelling messaging
  • Experience leading and developing teams, including coaching and building capability over time
  • Experience overseeing digital platforms, including website strategy and performance
  • Expertise with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp or similar), including campaign strategy, automation, audience segmentation, and performance tracking
  • A strong eye for visual storytelling and brand consistency, with the ability to execute changes using design and content creation tools (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Canva)
  • Confident communicator across a range of settings—comfortable pitching ideas to executives, facilitating working sessions, and representing the organization at events
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in brand consistency, messaging clarity, and quality of deliverables
  • Demonstrated alignment with Scott Mission’s values, reflected in how you lead, influence, and build teams—earning trust, fostering collaboration, and expecting excellence

Work Environment

Great work happens in many places—but connection helps us do our best work. Scott Mission’s remote work policy provides the opportunity to work remotely, with a current expectation to be in office three days per week.

The role is primarily based at our HUB location, with travel between Scott Mission locations as needed, while offering flexibility through the remainder of the week.

Compensation & Application

Salary: $95,000–$110,000 range, a competitive benefits plan, generous vacation, and access to ongoing professional and spiritual development.
