Position Overview

Samawada is seeking a highly organized and persuasive Grant Writer to help secure funding that advances our humanitarian mission through compelling grant proposals, funding applications, and donor reporting.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about nonprofit development, research, and strategic storytelling. The successful candidate will identify funding opportunities, develop competitive grant proposals, and collaborate with program teams to demonstrate the measurable impact of Samawada's work.

What You Will Do

Grant Research & Prospecting

  • Research grant opportunities from governments, foundations, corporations, and international funding agencies.
  • Identify funding opportunities aligned with Samawada's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and submission requirements.
  • Build and manage a database of prospective funders and grant opportunities.
  • Monitor emerging funding trends and humanitarian priorities.

Grant Proposal Development

  • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept notes, and funding applications.
  • Collaborate with leadership and program teams to gather project information, budgets, and supporting documentation.
  • Tailor proposals to meet each funder's priorities and application guidelines.
  • Ensure proposals clearly communicate measurable outcomes, sustainability, and community impact.
  • Review and edit proposals to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.

Donor Reporting & Stewardship

  • Assist in preparing grant reports and donor updates.
  • Track grant deliverables, reporting deadlines, and compliance requirements.
  • Help document project outcomes, impact metrics, and success stories.
  • Support transparent communication with donors and funding partners.
  • Contribute to donor accountability through Samawada's Global Transparency Dashboard.

Research & Strategic Development

  • Analyze funding priorities within the humanitarian and nonprofit sectors.
  • Research best practices in grant writing and proposal development.
  • Identify partnership opportunities that strengthen funding applications.
  • Assist in developing multi-year funding strategies and diversified revenue opportunities.
  • Recommend innovative approaches to increase grant success rates.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with fundraising, finance, marketing, technology, and program teams.
  • Coordinate information needed for proposals, budgets, and supporting documents.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and funding materials for prospective donors.
  • Maintain organized grant files, templates, and proposal resources.
  • Help build sustainable grant management processes for future staff and volunteers.
