Empower the next generation of business leaders as a JA Company Program Mentor! Work with and advise a group of highly engaged high school students as they start and run their very own business. About JAThrough the delivery of hands-on learning in entrepreneurship, financial health and work readiness, JA empowers young people to grow their entrepreneurial ideas, hone their work skills, manage their earnings, and secure better lives for themselves and their communities. JA is a leader in preparing young people for success in an ever-changing global economy.Your RolePartnered with a team of other volunteers, a JA Company Program Volunteer Mentor becomes a business advisor, role model, and facilitator for a group of 10-15 high school students. Mentors help foster participants’ entrepreneurial spirit and support students through an 18-week entrepreneurial journey in which they create, manage, and liquidate a real start-up business. Resources, training, and support for all volunteers are provided by JA.Qualifications<ul><li>Must be available for a volunteer interview and complete all screening requirements, including a Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search</li><li>Confident presenting to and working with young people</li><li>Relevant work and/or educational experience (i.e., Business, Finance, etc.)</li><li>Strong communication skills that are effective with youth</li><li>Must be 18 years or older to volunteer</li></ul>Volunteers do not need a particular background of area of expertise to be an effective Company Program Mentor. Most important is an ability to foster good teamwork and a desire to support youth in an impactful way.Training &amp; SupportPrior to the program start, Company Program Volunteers receive the following supports:<ul><li>JA Company Program orientation package</li><li>2 hour group training session facilitated online</li><li>Access to program resources</li><li>JA will provide all presentation content and resources needed to facilitate the program and ongoing support throughout the experience.</li></ul>Time CommitmentThis is an after-school program which takes place in the evening.Volunteers should be able to commit approximately 2-3 hours of their time per week for this volunteer opportunity. From hosting workshops to producing educational content, we are committed to strengthening the voice of families in long-term care.To support this mission, we are seeking an Outreach Coordinator located in Southwestern Ontario.The Role:As Outreach Coordinator, you’ll be the first point of contact for many families and council members. You’ll support them through outreach, education, and personalized consultations—helping councils grow, solve problems, and strengthen their relationships with long-term care homes. This role is ideal for someone passionate about community engagement, adult learning, and strengthening families' voices in long-term care.This position is specific to the Southwestern Ontario region.&nbsp;Key responsibilities include:<ul><li>In-person presentations, consultations, workshops, coaching, and conflict resolution at sites within Southwestern Ontario (London, Sarnia, Windsor, Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph and surrounding areas)</li><li>Serve as a main point of contact for families and council members via phone, email, and online platforms</li><li>Lead outreach efforts to raise awareness of Family Councils and promote FCO programs and services</li><li>Support the development and sustainability of new and existing Family Councils</li><li>Distribute educational materials including handbooks, factsheets, and digital content</li><li>Provide consultations to council members and staff to support problem-solving, relationship-building, and council development</li><li>Facilitate workshops and presentations to build skills and knowledge among council members and long-term care staff</li><li>Deliver virtual and in-person presentations, webinars, and attend community events</li><li>Develop and maintain strong relationships with long-term care home staff and leadership</li><li>Identify and support opportunities for collaboration between homes and Family Councils</li><li>Track outreach activities, inquiries, and impact metrics</li><li>Prepare regular reports and contribute insights to support continuous improvement</li><li>Work closely with the Programs Director and Communications Manager to align outreach efforts with organizational goals</li><li>Contribute to team planning and share feedback from the field to inform strategy</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Post-secondary education in Community Development, Communications, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field</li><li>Minimum 2 years’ experience in outreach, stakeholder engagement, or client support—ideally in a non-profit or health care setting</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; French/English bilingualism is an asset</li><li>Strong organizational and time-management skills</li><li>Tech-savvy and comfortable with CRMs, MS Office, Zoom, and social media platforms</li><li>Comfortable working evenings and flexible hours</li></ul>Preferred Skills &amp; Attributes<ul><li>Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse communities</li><li>Empathetic and solutions-oriented approach to supporting families</li><li>Confident public speaker and facilitator</li><li>Self-motivated and able to thrive in a remote, team-based environment</li><li>Passionate about improving long-term care and empowering families</li><li>French proficiency desired</li></ul>Position Details:Salary is: $60,000 annually.Benefits: Participation in the OPTrust Select pension plan (3% matched contributions).
