Job Description

Lean In Vancouver is seeking Volunteer Marketing Coordinators to help bring our programs, events, and community stories to life through thoughtful, consistent marketing.

In this role, you will support day-to-day marketing execution across social media, email, and web updates, working closely with the Volunteer Marketing Team Lead(s) and collaborating with teams across the organization. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys turning ideas into clear, engaging content, staying organized, and helping a mission-driven community grow.

Responsibilities

Content & Social Media Support

  • Draft, schedule, and publish social media content (primarily Instagram and LinkedIn) aligned with our brand voice
  • Create short-form video content, like Instagram Reels (concepting, simple scripting, coordinating clips, basic editing, captions, and publishing)
  • Assist with building and maintaining a content calendar, including event promotions and engagement campaigns.
  • Monitor comments and messages as needed, escalating questions to the appropriate team member

Event & Campaign Promotions

  • Support marketing for events, Circles, and initiatives by creating promotional posts, reminders, and recap content
  • Coordinate with Events and other teams to gather details, timelines, and assets needed for promotion
  • Help ensure key information is accurate and consistent across channels

Coordination & Operations

  • Track tasks, deadlines, and deliverables in the team’s project management system
  • Participate in regular marketing check-ins and provide status updates on assigned work
  • Maintain shared folders, templates, and basic documentation to keep the team organized

Reporting & Learning

  • Support performance tracking (e.g., post performance, engagement trends) and share learnings with the team
  • Stay curious about best practices in community building, inclusive communications, and social media trends

Desired Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in marketing, communications, social media, community, or a related area (volunteer or professional experience welcomed)
  • Comfort writing clear, friendly copy tailored to different audiences and platforms
  • Familiarity with Instagram and LinkedIn (bonus if you understand basic platform best practices)
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through: you can manage multiple small tasks without losing track
  • Basic design confidence (e.g., using Canva templates) or willingness to learn
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote volunteer environment
  • Alignment with Lean In Vancouver’s mission of advancing gender equity and supporting women’s leadership and community

Time Commitment

  • 10 – 12 hours a month; more when Events are being planned & executed
  • Monthly team meeting & monthly leadership meetings (virtual)
  • Volunteer in-person events (optional)
