Volunteer Opportunity: Website & User Experience (UX) Volunteer

Help shape the future of PIRS' digital presence. As we prepare for the next phase of our website, we're looking for a volunteer who can help us create a more intuitive, accessible, and impactful online experience for the communities we serve.

Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is seeking a skilled volunteer to support the improvement of our website and help ensure it reflects the quality, impact, and accessibility of our programs and services.

Working closely with our Communications team, you'll help us enhance the user experience, improve navigation and content structure, and ensure our website effectively serves immigrant and refugee women, partners, funders, and the broader community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a review of the current website and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend enhancements to user experience (UX), accessibility, navigation, and overall functionality.
  • Review website structure and content organization to improve usability.
  • Support updates to webpages, layouts, and content where needed.
  • Identify broken links, outdated content, and opportunities to streamline information.
  • Provide recommendations aligned with web accessibility and current best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on future website improvements and priorities.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in website management, UX/UI, web design, and WordPress.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and user-centered design principles.
  • Experience with Google Analytics or other website analytics tools is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 3–5 hours per week (flexible).
  • Initial commitment of 3–4 months, with the possibility of extending.

Why Volunteer with PIRS?

By volunteering with PIRS, you'll help strengthen the digital presence of a nonprofit that has empowered immigrant and refugee women and their children for 50 years. Your expertise will directly improve how families, partners, funders, and community members access information and connect with our services.

Skills you'll use and develop:
