<h2>Role Overview</h2>The Treasurer and Chair of the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee (FARC) plays a critical leadership role on CEE’s Board of Directors. The role ensures sound financial oversight, strong risk management, and accountable governance aligned with CEE’s mission to support the advancement and economic empowerment of young Black professionals.As a Board member, the Treasurer contributes to strategic decision-making, helps shape Board meeting agendas, and serves as a key advisor on the financial implications of organizational priorities. This is a&nbsp;volunteer Board position, and the Treasurer also serves in the capacity of CEE’s volunteer Treasurer, supported by the Executive Director (ED) and Director of Finance.General Responsibilities as a Board Member<ul><li>Fulfill all duties outlined in CEE’s Board Member role description.</li><li>Act in the best interests of the organization and its mission.</li><li>Help develop Board meeting agendas related to financial, audit, or risk matters in collaboration with the Board Chair and ED.</li><li>Participate fully in Board meetings, strategic sessions, and retreats.</li><li>Provide governance-level oversight while partnering appropriately with staff leadership.</li></ul>Treasurer &amp; FARC Chair Responsibilities<h2>1. Compliance &amp; Reporting</h2><ul><li>Ensure CEE meets all financial regulatory requirements including CRA filings, ONCA (or Canada NFP Act) reporting, and annual returns.</li><li>Oversee the annual audit or review engagement, including auditor selection and evaluation.</li><li>Support the timely preparation and presentation of audited financial statements to the Board.</li><li>Monitor progress on audit recommendations and internal control enhancements.</li></ul><h2>4. Audit &amp; Risk Oversight (FARC Chair Role)</h2><ul><li>Lead the Finance, Audit &amp; Risk Committee in developing annual work plans, priorities, and meeting agendas.</li><li>Facilitate at least eight FARC meetings per year, ensuring informed discussions and clear recommendations.</li><li>Assess organizational risks (financial, operational, legal) and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.</li><li>Recommend investment, reserve, banking, and debt strategies within Board-approved guidelines.</li><li>Ensure CEE maintains appropriate insurance coverage for the organization and its Directors &amp; Officers.</li></ul><h2>5. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. Our Big Brothers Community Program pairs you with a Little Buddy based on personality and shared interests to build a supportive one-to-one relationship based on trust, connection, and fun! Our matches spend two or more hours once per week doing free or low-cost activities they enjoy most and are paired for a minimum of one year. Our Big Brothers are<ul><li>Male, trans, and gender diverse individuals who are 18+.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Able to meet once weekly for 2 or more hours with a Mentee on weekends or afterschool hours.</li></ul>Our Little Brothers are<ul><li>Boys, trans, and gender-diverse children and youth ages 7 to 14.</li><li>Those who would benefit from having a positive role model in their life.</li></ul>NOW IS THE TIME TO VOLUNTEER! Big Brothers Community Mentor

Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases.&nbsp;&nbsp;This role involves in-person interactions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Responsibilities:&nbsp;<ul><li>Adhere to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Work collaboratively with a team of volunteers to plan and promote your local Gutsy Walk.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Act as a role model by registering for Gutsy Walk and supporting fundraising, directly or indirectly (by sharing new ideas and leads, doing your own fundraising, promoting the event amongst your network&nbsp;</li></ul>Ways You Can Support Your Local Gutsy Walk:&nbsp;<ul><li>&nbsp;Attend Gutsy Walk Planning: Participate in scheduled meetings to stay informed, share updates, and take on assigned tasks.&nbsp;</li><li>Community Outreach –Inspire participation by posting on community boards, distributing posters, and spreading the word locally.&nbsp;</li><li>Media Relations – Connect with local media outlets to promote the Gutsy Walk&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Social Media – Raise awareness about Crohn’s and colitis and promote the Gutsy Walk through your own social media channels.&nbsp;</li><li>Sponsorship – Engage local businesses by sharing your story and presenting sponsorship packages (with staff support for follow-up). Encourage donations, sponsorships, and gifts-in-kind by identifying potential contributors.&nbsp;</li><li>Network&nbsp; – build relationships with Gutsy Walk Committee, local community members and participants. Strengthen networks, encourage engagement and build a sense of community.&nbsp;</li><li>Event Day Support–Assist with tasks such as check-in, welcoming volunteers, and ensuring the event runs smoothly.&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Time commitment:&nbsp;<ul><li>Approximately 4-8 hours a month including monthly committee meetings, with additional meetings leading up to event day and a post-event wrap up meeting&nbsp;</li><li>Some daytime availability is ideal for distributing promotional materials, making phone calls and responding to emails&nbsp;</li><li>Evening and weekend availability may be required for stakeholder engagement&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>What you bring:&nbsp;<ul><li>An Interest in exploring the best ways to make your local Gutsy Walk a success&nbsp;</li><li>Strong networking skills and the willingness to connect with new people over email or the phone&nbsp;</li><li>An interest in inspiring people to take part in Gutsy Walk&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Comfortable approaching businesses and local media to secure partnerships, sponsorships and coverage&nbsp;</li><li>Familiarity with social media and online promotion&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Collaboration and teamwork skills&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>What we offer:&nbsp;<ul><li>A community of support, a dedicated staff partner, a team of peers and role-specific training&nbsp;</li><li>An opportunity to use and grow professional skills and expand your network&nbsp;</li><li>A hands-on chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis in your community&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>How to apply:Click the link below and submit your application.
