Our&nbsp;Mentoring with Math Program&nbsp;is designed to strengthen the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship. Volunteers meet once-a-week for 90 minute sessions during afternoons over a 10 week period, and work on numeracy, activities, and games. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. Our Math Mentors are<ul><li>Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Available to meet once weekly during weekday afternoons between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for 90-minutes for in-person sessions, or 60 minutes for virtual sessions.</li></ul>Our Mentoring with Math volunteers are asked to enroll in two 8-10 week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program. About	Us	

The	British	Columbia	Girls	Choir	Society	(BCGC)	is	an	award-winning	choral	organization	
committed	to	empowering	young	voices	through	exceptional	music	education	and	unforgettable	
performance	opportunities.	Our	society	was	founded	in	1998	as	AcademyWest	Schola	Cantorum	
and	in	2004	changed	the	name	to	the	British	Columbia	Girls	Choir.	Hundreds	of	young	singers	have	
been	empowered	to	excel	in	music	and	in	life	through	BCGC’s	world-class	music	education,	
transformative	performances,	and	global	experiences.		

Our	choristers	have	performed	alongside	world-renowned	ensembles	and	solo	artists	such	as	
the	Vancouver	Chamber	Choir,	Chor	Leoni,	Elektra,	Ben	Heppner	and	The	Nylons	and	have	
performed	in	iconic	venues	and	cultural	landmarks	across	Europe,	Australia,	China,	and	the	
Americas.	In	2018,	BCGC	earned	the	title	of	Children’s	Choir	of	the	World	at	the	
prestigious	Llangollen	International	Musical	Eisteddfod	in	Wales.	

Currently,	BCGC	serves	up	to	150	+	singers	across	five	choir	levels,	from	Grades	1	through	12,	
including	the	annual	SpringSing	Education	Outreach	Program,	which	brings	together	young	
singers	in	Grades	4	to	6,	to	work	under	the	leadership	of	Artistic	Director	Cassie	Luftspring	and	
culminates	in	a	performance	at	our	season	finale	concert.	Our	singers	come	from	12	communities	
across	the	Lower	Mainland,	including	Burnaby;	Coquitlam;	Langley;	Maple	Ridge;	Mission;	New	
Westminster;	North	Vancouver;	Pitt	Meadows;	Port	Coquitlam;	Port	Moody;	Surrey;	and	Vancouver.	

At	BCGC,	we	are	proud	to	offer	a	rich	and	supportive	environment	that	fosters	teamwork,	discipline,	
and	musical	excellence.	Singers	develop	lasting	friendships	in	a	safe,	respectful	and	supportive	
environment	that	nurtures	their	musical	and	personal	growth,	with	bene]its	extending	beyond	the

Our	Staff	

BCGC’s	dedicated	staff	includes	the	Artistic	Director	and	collaborative	pianist;	the	General	Manager,	
a	part-time	Administrative	Assistant/Social	Media	Manager;	and	an	external	accounting	firm.	All	
the	staff	work	closely	together	to	deliver	the	BCGC	programs.	The	Board	of	Directors	oversees	the	
Society	and	supports	the	staff	for	all	important	decisions.	

What	We’re	Looking	For		

BCGC	is	currently	seeking	two	or	more	members	from	the	community	to	join	our	Board	of	
Directors.	This	is	an	exciting	opportunity	to	contribute	to	a	dynamic,	world-class	arts	organization	
that	is	shaping	the	next	generation	of	musicians	and	leaders.		

We	are	especially	interested	in	individuals	with	skills	and	experience	in	the	following	areas:	

 • Fundraising	&amp;	Development:	Experience	in	securing	individual	gifts	and/or	corporate	
sponsorships,	leading	fundraising	campaigns,	and	building	strong	relationships	with	donors	
and	community	partners.	


 • Marketing:	Expertise	in	planning,	implementing,	and	evaluating	marketing	initiatives	to	
increase	public	awareness,	engagement,	and	both	choir	and	audience	growth.	

 • Accounting	&amp;	Financial	Oversight:	Background	in	financial	management	(bookkeeping	
and/or	accounting	designation),	including	budgeting,	financial	reporting,	to	ensure	the	
financial	sustainability	of	a	nonprofit	organization.	

While	we	are	actively	seeking	expertise	in	the	areas	above,	we	welcome	expressions	of	interest	
from	anyone	passionate	about	our	mission	of	giving	voice,	changing	lives,	and	creating	
extraordinary	music.		

Board	Responsibilities	and	Eligibility	

The	British	Columbia	Girls	Choir	Society	Board	of	Directors	is	comprised	of	5-9	Directors,	each	of	
whom	must	be	a	member	of	the	Society.	Society	membership	is	open	to	those	who	are	19	years	of	
age	or	older,	are	interested	in	advancing	the	purposes	and	supporting	the	activities	of	the	Society	
and	agree	to	abide	by	the	Society’s	Code	of	Conduct.	Annual	society	membership	is	$10	per	year.	
The	majority	of	Directors	must	not	be	parents	of	singers	enrolled	in	the	choir’s	programs	in	the	
current	choral	year	(currently	September	2025	–	June	2026).	Due	to	our	current	Board	
composition,	we	are	not	currently	able	to	accept	applications	from	current	choir	parents;	we	expect	
the	next	parent	vacancies	to	open	in	September	2026.	

Time	Commitment			

Currently	the	BCGC	Board	of	Directors	meets	every	two	months	for	a	total	of	between	six	and	eight	
meetings	each	year.	Meetings	are	typically	two	hours	or	less	and	alternate	between	being	held	in-
person	and	online	via	Zoom.	Directors	are	also	required	to	attend	the	Society’s	Annual	General	
Meeting	(typically	held	in	November)	and	asked	to	attend	an	annual	one-day	Board	Retreat	
(typically	held	in	June).	Directors	will	be	invited	to	participate	on	board	committees	and/or	as	part	
of	special	projects.

BabyGoRound's program benefits low income families by providing access to essential baby gear and clothing, free of charge. We receive donations of second-hand clothing and baby gear from the public, which is processed and prepared by our volunteers. Our clothing sorting volunteers play a key role in ensuring that our inventory of baby clothing is organized, well stocked, and meets our quality standards.
Impact of this role:
Last year, BabyGoRound's program supported 1761 families with access to essential baby gear and clothing, positively impacting 5,750+ family members.

Approximately 95% of baby gear that BabyGoRound distributes annually is gently used. Last year, 66,800 lbs of pre-loved baby gear was diverted from the landfill, thanks to our community of donors and volunteers. Our gear processing and clothing sorting volunteers keep this circular system going round - checking, cleaning, and preparing critical baby gear to be passed on to the families who need it most. This circular approach of collecting and connecting pre-loved baby essentials is more than an exchange; it’s a cycle of care that benefits our planet and people.

Key responsibilities and duties include:
<ul><li>Inspecting clothing donations to ensure they are clean and in good condition
</li><li>Sorting clothing and accessories by style and size (e.g., sleeper, top, bottom, jacket / 0-3mo, 3-6mo, 6-12mo etc.)
</li><li>Keeping inventory well labeled and organized
</li><li>Putting laundry in the washer/dryer
</li></ul>
Skills:
<ul><li>Organized and detail oriented
</li><li>Enjoys engaging in repetitive tasks
</li><li>Able to use problem solving skills and judgement on condition of items</li></ul>We are looking for volunteers who are able to contribute at least 4 hours a month to this role.&nbsp;Comprehensive training, and ongoing support is provided.

Baby Clothes Sorting and Organizing Volunteer

Our Baby Gear Processing volunteers play a critical role in ensuring that all baby gear that we distribute to families meets our quality standards for cleanliness and safety. Volunteers will work in our warehouse and report to the resource staff lead, and be supported by the volunteer coordinator. If you care about sustainability, want to support local families, and if you enjoy the satisfaction of a transformation, this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! This is done using various tools onsite, including a vacuum cleaner, steam cleaner, laundry sink, and washing machine.</li>	<li>Checking baby gear equipment to ensure it meets current safety requirements: checking condition, functionality, proper assembly, and that all parts are in place.</li>	<li>Helping to keep the gear receiving and processing zones orderly.</li></ul> Desired skills and traits:&nbsp;<ul>	<li>Enjoys problem solving</li>	<li>Experienced and comfortable using your&nbsp;hands (assembling items, cleaning)</li>	<li>Has a strong attention to detail</li>	<li>Doesn’t mind getting a little dirty</li>	<li>Enjoys working independently and taking ownership of their responsibilities</li>	<li>Ability to lift 25 lbs independently, or 40 lbs with assistance</li></ul> Accessibility: BabyGoRound can be accessed at street level through both the front and back doors, though the back entrance is down a steep slanted driveway. Both floors are connected by one flight of stairs. Support:&nbsp;We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment! During your shift, staff will be available to assist you, answer questions, and provide guidance. You will have written guidelines to refer to regarding instructions for processing baby gear, important baby gear safety considerations, and a binder of recalled baby gear. Commitment and Availability:&nbsp;Our volunteer opportunities offer a lot of flexibility, allowing you to adjust your schedule week to week. We are looking for reliable volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 2, 2.25 hr shifts/month for 1 year. Volunteers should also have availability during our operating hours: Monday-Thursday between 9:45am-2:30pm. Additional Requirements: All onsite volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for work with children and vulnerable adults. Instructions for how to complete a CRC will be shared with you following the submission of your application. The CRC will be free to you as a volunteer.

Surrey Women’s Centre is CHANGING THE DEFINITION OF VICTIM by providing a wide range of Crisis, Court and Counselling services to individuals who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other forms of gender-based violence.We are a crisis centre located in Surrey, British Columbia and work in collaboration with the medical and justice communities for the safety and care of survivors and children escaping violence. Directors work with other members of the board and executive leadership to carry out the mission of the Surrey Women’s Centre (“SWC”).The Board upholds its legal responsibility for approving organizational positions/policies, while ensuring accountability, transparency, and sound governance. All work is conducted through an intersectional feminist, anti-oppression, and&nbsp;decolonized lens.About YouThe ideal candidate is committed to support SWC in advancing safety, dignity, and systemic change for those escaping violence.
