Because of HELP volunteers, tens of thousands of Canadians who are recovering from surgery or illness are able to access health equipment that enhances mobility and independence, allowing them to recover from the comfort of their home. The HELP Technician cleans and maintains returned/used equipment, delivers and installs HELP basic and advanced equipment to clients at various locations in Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.&nbsp; As a volunteer in this role, you will :&nbsp;<ul><li>Cleans and disinfects health equipment, according to standards, with support.</li><li>Maintains health equipment, according to standards, with support.</li><li>Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and carries out repairs, following manufacturer’s specifications.</li><li>Documents repairs and maintains up-to-date equipment records in inventory management system.</li><li>Helps clients and caregivers to navigate equipment needs and informally access community resources. &nbsp;</li><li>Active in the community, providing support to HELP program staff with equipment delivery, setup and removal at HELP Service Centres, care facilities or in client homes.</li></ul>&nbsp; You bring these essential talents :&nbsp;<ul><li>Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot problems of a technical nature.</li><li>Some lifting of equipment is required.&nbsp; We recommend volunteers be capable of lifting upwards of 30lbs. Accommodations will be made if required.</li><li>Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team environment.</li><li>Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.</li><li>Strong verbal communication and client relations skills.&nbsp;</li><li>Full training is provided; however, volunteers should be comfortable with using a computer, and have good written and conversational English. French may also be required in New Brunswick. They encourage the community to support their&nbsp;Chapter through Shoebox gifts, monetary donations, volunteering&nbsp;and offering kind messages of support to the women they serve.Our annual giving campaign is during the holidays and a majority of Chapter activity is from September(planning), through December (gift delivery).
