It is governed by the KVPACS, a non-profit organization with a 12-member Board of Directors.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The KVPACS works to improve the cultural and social quality of life in Kelowna through the arts.&nbsp; The Board has a broad range of experience, skills and knowledge.&nbsp; Consider bringing your skills set to the Board and supporting the arts.&nbsp;The Board needs Directors with experience in:&nbsp; The ED also administers the Master Lease of the RCA from the City, and Sub-Leases of RCA space to tenants.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;While the KVPACS Board is responsible for the strategic direction and financial oversight of the RCA, the Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility.&nbsp;The KVPACS is a Governance Board so interactions are limited to providing strategic advice and direction to the Executive Director.&nbsp; There is no day-to-day involvement with the staff and operations.&nbsp;Relationship with the City of Kelowna&nbsp;The Board recognizes the importance of working in partnership with the City to benefit the community.&nbsp;The City owns the RCA building and leases it to the KVPACS for $1.00 per year.&nbsp;The City also provides an annual grant, roughly 30% of the $ 1 million operating budget.&nbsp;&nbsp;Board Composition&nbsp;&nbsp;The Board has Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) goals in place.&nbsp; It strives for a 50:50 gender balance, a range of ages across four age bands (25-40, 41-55, 56-70, +70 years), and a minimum 20:80 visible/non-visible minority balance.&nbsp;Committee Structure&nbsp;There are five (5) Board Committees which are:&nbsp;<ul><li>Governance&nbsp;</li><li>Human Resources&nbsp;</li><li>Nomination&nbsp;</li><li>Strategic Planning&nbsp;</li><li>Finance/Financial Sustainability&nbsp;</li></ul>Directors must sit on at least one Committee but are encouraged to sit on two Committees.&nbsp; The time commitment for each Committee varies but is usually a minimum of one meeting per month, with additional work as required.&nbsp;Director Commitments&nbsp;Directors are expected to:&nbsp;<ul><li>Be prepared for and regularly attend Board and related meetings&nbsp;</li><li>Make a serious commitment to participate actively in Committee work&nbsp;</li><li>Provide leadership by serving as a Committee Chair and on the Executive Committee, one or more times, while serving as a Director&nbsp;</li><li>Stay informed about Committee matters, prepare well for meetings, and review and comment on Minutes and Reports&nbsp;</li><li>Get to know other Board members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus&nbsp;</li><li>Be an active participant in the Board's annual evaluation/planning efforts&nbsp;</li><li>Attend events and productions at the RCA&nbsp;</li><li>Attend City Council meetings and City events to represent the Board&nbsp;</li><li>Be professional when representing the Board in the community&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>BC Liquor License Required Documents&nbsp;The RCA has a BC Liquor License.&nbsp;As a result, Directors must complete a Criminal Records Check and a Personal History Summary for a Liquor Licence Application upon joining the Board.&nbsp;Mentorship &amp; Orientation&nbsp;New Board members are mentored by a current Director and provided robust on-boarding materials, training and a facility tour.&nbsp;Nomination Process&nbsp;The Nominations Committee will review the applications received and recommend to the Board, the nominees to put forward at the AGM to join the Board.&nbsp;All applicants will be advised of the Nominations Committee’s decision by October 10, 2025.&nbsp;Election Process&nbsp;Voting takes place during the KVPACS Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 12, 2025.&nbsp; Our core workshop, available through more than 80 cancer centres across Canada (and online) helps individuals safely manage the appearance-related effects of cancer and its treatment so they can feel more like themselves again.Powered by over 1,000 dedicated volunteers delivering compassionate care and expertise, we are a trusted voice in self-care, emotional well-being, and community connection.About the Role:We are currently recruiting passionate volunteers across Canada to lead the Wigs &amp; Hair Alternative portion of our in-person workshops for people facing cancer.For more than 30 years, these workshops have helped people manage the appearance-related effects of cancer treatment. Hair Alternative Specialists guide participants through choosing and caring for wigs, exploring scarf-tying techniques, hat options, and navigating hair loss and regrowth. Volunteers may also demonstrate with a model, showcasing different types and styles.These sessions provide more than practical advice — they create a rare opportunity for fun, confidence, and connection during a vulnerable time.Who we're looking for:We’re seeking professionals who are not only skilled in wigs and hair alternatives, but who also bring compassion, empathy, and clear, gentle communication to every session. Volunteers may join us with formal training or industry experience, or, if new to this area, by completing a training course to gain the necessary skills. The Society for Children and Youth (SCY) of BC is a unique, provincial not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to improve the well-being of children and youth in BC through the advancement of their civic, political, economic, social, cultural, and legal rights. Since 1974, the Society has focused on providing a strong voice representing children and youth.The Society’s work focuses on four key priorities: child and youth rights, child and youth friendly communities, social justice, and organizational resilience. The bus is supported by trained adult Walk Leaders, who walk with the group daily. The bus is powered not by an engine, but on foot, by the students themselves as they walk to and from school.As a volunteer, your job is to support your group’s Walk Leader. The Walk Leader manages logistics like attendance and family communications. Your role involves playing games along the walk, getting to know the participants, and making sure no one lags too far behind – you’re acting as another pair of eyes on the walk, and helping to foster community!Volunteer walking shifts are available every weekday before and after school and are typically 30 to 45 minutes in length.
