Volunteer DriverOur Volunteer Drivers play an extremely valuable role in the lives of our children, youth and families in care. &nbsp;As a driver, you become a familiar and friendly face that the children and youth can depend on, someone who will listen to their stories and bring a smile to their faces at what can be a very confusing time in their lives.&nbsp;If you have a few hours to spare a week, enjoy driving and love children, then this is the volunteer role for you. &nbsp; Volunteer drivers take children, youth, and on occasion their parents, to various appointments, therapy sessions, family visits, counselling sessions, court dates, support groups, and other important meetings. &nbsp;Some drivers do specific drives each week, others are called upon on a daily basis and yet others do once a month. &nbsp;It's totally up to the individual as to how much they are willing to drive. &nbsp;Either way we are extremely grateful, as we are always in need of reliable, readily available volunteer drivers.&nbsp; Most drives occur within the Halton borders but can occasionally be further.Role &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<ul><li>Drive children and youth to appointments&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain and submit accurate expense sheet&nbsp;</li><li>Plan route for drive in the most direct and cost-efficient manner possible &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; </li><li>Needed days, evenings, and weekends&nbsp;</li><li>Commit to as much or as little as you would like</li></ul>Major Responsibilities&nbsp;<ul><li>Obtain appropriate car seat from Halton CAS if required for the drive&nbsp;</li><li>Advise Drive Coordinator in advance when you will be unable to complete a previously scheduled drive&nbsp;</li><li>Advise Supervisor of Volunteers of any problems that may arise during drives&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain professional and caring manner as a representative of Halton CAS&nbsp;</li><li>Advise After Hours Worker of any problems with drives occurring during the evenings or weekends&nbsp;</li><li>Adhere to Halton CAS Code of Conduct</li></ul>Requirements&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<ul><li>Valid driver’s license&nbsp;</li><li>Fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination&nbsp;</li><li>A vehicle in good running condition with adequate number of seatbelts&nbsp;</li><li>Complete Vulnerable Sector Screening&nbsp;</li><li>Provide driving abstract from Ministry of Transportation&nbsp;</li><li>Provide proof of insurance with minimum coverage of $2,000,000&nbsp;</li><li>Have a good understanding of the appropriate use of Halton CAS car seats, as required&nbsp;</li><li>Be patient, have a good sense of humour and have a caring personality</li></ul>Benefits&nbsp;<ul><li>Gain leadership experience&nbsp;</li><li>Increase social and professional network&nbsp;</li><li>Enhance skill set while overseeing a variety of different tasks, activities, and experiences &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>Who Are You?<ul><li>A team player who possesses leadership qualities&nbsp;</li><li>Enthusiastic and energetic&nbsp;</li><li>Reliable and punctual, motivated, accountable</li><li>Outgoing; enjoy meeting new people&nbsp;</li><li>Calm and cope well under pressure</li></ul>Contact Clara Costa, Supervisor of Volunteer Services @ <a href="mailto:ccosta@haltoncas.ca" target="_blank">ccosta@haltoncas.ca</a> to apply or if you have any questions.
