Key Duties &amp; Responsibilities 

Operational Management 

 • Oversee daily operations of all shelter and housing programs, ensuring smooth functioning 
and adherence to Street Haven's policies, procedures, and standards 

 • Develop, implement, and regularly update operational procedures for shelter and housing 
programs that align with best practices, funder requirements, and organizational goals 

 • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required documentation, to the Director 
including weekly incident reports, daily logs, client records, and statistical reports 

 • Manage bed allocation, room assignments, and space utilization to maximize service 
capacity while ensuring client safety and comfort 

 • Oversee maintenance of facilities, identifying repair needs, coordinating with maintenance 
staff, and ensuring timely resolution of facility issues 

 • Monitor inventory of supplies, food, and program materials, ensuring adequate stock levels 
and efï¿½icient resource utilization 


 • Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures, conducting regular drills and 
ensuring staff preparedness for crisis situations 

 • Ensure compliance with health standards, building codes, ï¿½ire regulations, and other 
applicable laws and regulations 

 • Conduct regular program audits to ensure quality standards are consistently met across all 
shifts and services

Staff Supervision &amp; Development 

 • Directly supervise shelter and housing program staff, including case managers, frontline 
workers, overnight staff, and program coordinators

 • Develop and maintain a comprehensive staff scheduling system that ensures appropriate 

coverage across all shifts (24/7) while managing overtime costs 
 • Create monthly staff schedules, manage shift changes, approve time-off requests, and 

coordinate coverage for absences 
 • Recruit, hire, and orient new staff members in collaboration with HR, ensuring thorough 

onboarding to Street Haven policies and procedures 
 • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance management to direct reports

Education &amp; Experience

 • Minimum 2 years' experience in Housing services, Experience managing 24/7 operations 

and shift scheduling 
 • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable women, including those facing

Fundraising Event Ambassador – Volunteer Role Description 

About DCHC 
 
Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) is a registered, charitable organization that provides 
integrated, accessible, and equitable community based primary care, wellness services, and health 
education to Durham community members who face multiple barriers to their health and well-being. 
DCHC also provides equity-based programs and services that focus on priority populations such as 
Indigenous, Black, the 2SLGBTQI Community, Newcomers to Canada, Seniors, and Unattached patients 
(i.e., those without a family doctor), to name a few. DCHC ensures Durham community members receive 
not only sick care, but preventive care as well. 
 
Our care model is built around interprofessional teamwork and equity-based approaches, ensuring every 
client receives coordinated, person-centered care across clinical, wellness, and education services. 

Key Responsibilities 
 
DCHC is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help promote our fundraising events. Currently, we are 
looking to promote our Annual Golf Classic: Driving Community Health Foreward - our signature 
fundraising event that supports the vital work we do in the community. 
 
This year, our Golf Classic will take place on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at Deer Creek Golf Course in

As a Fundraising Event Ambassador, you will play an important role in spreading awareness about 
fundraising events and the impact of DCHC’s work. Volunteers will play a key role through: 

 • Distributing pre-written letters to local businesses to request prizing for events (e.g., gift cards, 
prize baskets, etc.) 

 • Visiting and/or calling local stores to inquire about displaying promotional flyers in storefronts, 
etc. 

 • Sharing event details and DCHC’s mission with the community 
 
What to Expect: 

 • Volunteers will receive an onboarding and orientation to prepare for the Ambassador role 

 • Volunteer must be comfortable completing tasks independently 

 • Ability to travel within the local area is required 

 • Volunteer hours can begin as soon as onboarding is complete and can continue through late 

August to early September 

 • Flexible scheduling to fit your availability 

 • Volunteers will report into the Manager, Philanthropy and Partnerships and will be further 

supported by the Lead, Community Engagement
