Job Description

Architectural Designer will contribute to the design and development of innovative, sustainable, and attainable housing solutions that address Canada's housing challenges. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will create architectural concepts, technical drawings, and 3D models that align with LandSeed's mission of empowering communities through data-driven, inclusive, and human-centred design. The role focuses on designing scalable housing models, modular communities, and entry-level housing that improve accessibility, affordability, and quality of life for diverse populations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with community stakeholders, and development partners to transform innovative ideas into practical and impactful housing solutions.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop architectural concepts, design studies, and presentation materials for residential, commercial, institutional, mixed-use, and community development projects
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and other BIM software throughout all project phases
• Produce schematic design, design development, permit, tender, and construction documentation packages
• Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, landscape, and other consultant disciplines
• Assist in site planning, building layout, space planning, and feasibility studies
• Conduct site analysis, zoning reviews, and research related to municipal planning policies and development regulations
• Prepare 3D models, renderings, diagrams, and visual presentations for client meetings and public consultations
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable building codes, accessibility standards, fire regulations, and local municipal requirements
• Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate design updates with project stakeholders
• Review shop drawings, material submissions, and requests for information during construction.
• Assist with contract administration and site inspections when required
• Support permit applications, planning submissions, and development approval processes
• Maintain project documentation, drawing revisions, and BIM standards throughout project delivery
• Collaborate with project teams to identify innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective design solutions
• Assist in preparing project specifications, reports, and technical documentation
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and quality control procedures.

Qualifications & Skillsets

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture or Architectural Studies.
• Internship or professional experience in an architectural office is considered an asset.
• Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, zoning by-laws, and municipal approval processes.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience with BIM workflows and construction documentation.
• Strong understanding of architectural detailing and building construction methods.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max, Lumion, Twinmotion, D5 Render, or similar visualization software.
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building practices.
• Familiarity with project coordination and consultant management.
• Understanding of site development, grading, servicing coordination, and land development processes.
• Experience preparing permit and planning application packages.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
