Volunteer Opportunity: Ladner Non-Profit Seeks Volunteers to Support Neuroscience Care in West Africa&nbsp;The Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation (KBNF) is a Canadian-based charity dedicated to helping people in West Africa who suffer from brain and spine conditions. Together, with partners in West Africa, we are building excellence in neuroscience care.&nbsp;A big part of this work starts right here in Canada, at our warehouse in Delta through the incredible efforts of volunteers like you.&nbsp;We’re currently seeking volunteers to help us:<ul><li>Sort, fold, and pack donated medical supplies</li><li>Sew, knit, or crochet comfort items for patients</li><li>Clean and restore donated medical equipment</li><li>Load and prepare containers for overseas shipment</li></ul>These supplies, many of which would otherwise end up in Canadian landfills, are carefully collected, repurposed, and shipped to hospitals and clinics across West Africa where they support essential surgeries and care and even save lives.Volunteer during the week or on one of our Volunteer Saturdays.&nbsp;Volunteer days are hands-on, team-oriented, and highly meaningful. Our&nbsp;Mentoring with Math Program&nbsp;is designed to strengthen the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship. Volunteers meet once-a-week for 90 minute sessions during afternoons over a 10 week period, and work on numeracy, activities, and games. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. Our Math Mentors are<ul><li>Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Available to meet once weekly during weekday afternoons between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for 90-minutes for in-person sessions, or 60 minutes for virtual sessions.</li></ul>Our Mentoring with Math volunteers are asked to enroll in two 8-10 week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program. Our&nbsp;In-School Mentoring Program&nbsp;pairs you with one elementary school student who you share common interests with. Matches spend one-hour once per week together on school grounds doing non-academic activities such as playing sports, games, creating art or just hanging out at the playground. Our matches are paired for the duration, or remainder, of the academic school-year. Deadline to apply to volunteer in this program for the 2025-26 school year is Feb 1, 2026.
