THE OPPORTUNITY Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is seeking few new volunteers for our fundraising team. Current members are keen and performing well. Yet, someone with broad fundraising experience would be a great asset. The current focus of the team is on obtaining funding for a youth climate action project to take place in five Canadian Cities. Funding of core costs is also being pursued. BACKGROUND A Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) is an urban-centred region where teams educate and engage people in activities to develop a culture of sustainability. BEC Canada (BECC) is a national charity that supports development of BECs in Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver. ORGANIZATION OF THE FUNDRAISING TEAM The Team is divided into sub-teams for Grants Research, Core Support, Partnerships, and Writing. The team normally meets monthly online and sub-teams may also meet separately. There is a strong link to the BECC Project Development Team. COMMITMENT Volunteers are expected to dedicate 3-4 hours per week, including team meetings. The time is flexible around other personal commitments. THE OPPORTUNITY Brampton Biosphere Eco-City (BBEC) is seeking new members for a team that is developing a Database of Sustainability Projects. The database allows residents to have an overview of the many interesting sustainability projects in their city. To see the current database visit Brampton.BioEcoCity.org. BACKGROUND A Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) is an urban-centred region where teams educate and engage people in activities to develop a culture of sustainability. BEC Canada (BECC) is a national charity that supports development of BECs. ORGANIZATION OF THE DATABASE The framework of the database is the 10 BEC Themes of Sustainability – Transportation, Energy, Design, Habitat, Food, Natural Capital, Waste, Health, Recreation, and Sense of Place. These are broad areas of direct action for sustainability. Organizing the database by Theme allows viewers to focus on areas that interest them most. TASKS OF A DATABASE TEAM MEMBER To find a sustainability project in urban or rural Brampton a team member will conduct an internet search using one of the Themes of Sustainability or a related keyword, along with "Brampton" and "sustainability." They will review project descriptions and select relevant ones to add to the database. Next, they will write a concise description using a project template. Once completed, they will contact the project owner to verify the description. Additionally, team members are expected to attend monthly team meetings. The time expectation for volunteers is a flexible 3-4 hours per week. A team leader will provide training material and advice to team members. Database Volunteer Brampton Biosphere Eco-City

Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is looking for two volunteers to update and manage an electronic document system on Google Drive. The result will be a simple and rational system that BECC members (about 40 volunteers) can use. &nbsp; The Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) approach engages people in sustainability through projects that educate and involve them. BECC coordinates eight projects in Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, Vancouver. Ottawa BEC manages its projects independently. More information is available on the national website (<a href="https://BioEcoCity.org" target="_blank">https://BioEcoCity.org</a>) and websites for BEC cities (e.g., Toronto.BioEcoCity.org, Edmonton.BioEcoCity.org etc.). &nbsp; THE TASK 1. National Folders/Files (1 st priority) Review the current document system on the BECC G-drive. Consult the BECC President on details and needs Liaise with leaders of national teams (Project Development, Fundraising) Propose a better folder/file system to the BECC board Provide training and assistance on files for members. &nbsp; 2.
