We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support the financial operations of our organization. As the 

Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial systems. 

These are your responsibilities: 
 
Accounts Payable &amp; Receivable 
 • Record and reconcile purchases, credit card transactions, and rent bills. 
 • Issue invoices for tenants, rentals, and services; process deposits and payments. 

 
General Accounting &amp; Reporting (QuickBooks) 
 • Maintain accurate records, accounts, and reports for new and existing programs. 
 • Prepare journal entries for payroll, rent, admin, pre-paid, and amortization expenses. 
 • Assist with quarterly reporting for the Board of Directors. 

 
Claims &amp; Compliance 
 • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial accuracy 
 • Prepare and submit monthly program claims and annual grant claims. 
 • Process monthly HST rebates and related journal entries. 
 • Support audits, funder reporting, and compliance requirements. 

 
Reconciliations 
 • Complete monthly bank reconciliations, payroll clearance, program revenue, and other accounts. 
 • Follow up on outstanding items to ensure timely resolution.

Support &amp; Collaboration 
 • Leverage technology to create efficiencies and process improvements. 
 • Work closely with the Controller, CEO, Leadership Team, and Coordinators to provide timely financial

 • Respond to inquiries from staff, vendors, customers, and auditors.

What you need to bring to this job: 
 • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience 
 • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or funder-driven 

environment. 
 • Proficiency with QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). 
 • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. 
 • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, service-oriented approach and positive attitude.

Participants create, run and liquidate their very own business with the support of adult volunteer advisors. This unique learning experience empowers young people in grades 9-12 with the skills, connections, and confidence to build something incredible - a business, a community, and a bright future.BECOME A JA COMPANY PROGRAM ADVISORAs a volunteer Company Program advisor, you will inspire students to dream big and set ambitious goals. Working alongside a team of business professionals, advisors act as mentors, role models and facilitators to a group of 10-25 high school students. Across 18 weeks, these students will create, run and liquidate a unique business.WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?<ul><li>We encourage volunteers from all professional backgrounds and areas of expertise to participate.&nbsp;</li><li>Advisors do not require specific expertise or knowledge, only a passion and willingness to support young people and the ability to foster teamwork.&nbsp;</li><li>The JA Company Program team provides resources, training, and support for all volunteers.&nbsp;</li><li>Volunteers must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check and provide two references to participate in the program.
