Telephone Aid Line Kingston (TALK) is a crisis, distress, befriending, and information phone line serving all members of the Kingston community. We are entirely volunteer-run, including all phone line volunteers, Executive Assembly positions, and Board of Directors. TALK is also a member of Distress and Crisis Ontario (DCO).TALK’s Board of Directors holds a minimum tenure of one year, with a maximum of four. They meet with the Executive Director on a monthly basis. Meetings occur electronically over Zoom. In between meetings, the Executive Director provides e-mail updates on financial and organizational matters. Currently, TALK has four members on the Board of Directors with staggered tenures. We are currently seeking up to three additional Board members. The Board currently operates as a whole rather than in committees, with the Executive Director acting as chair. SHARE pays particular attention to the challenges which women and youth-led SMEs face by matching them with skilled volunteers with management and entrepreneurial experience to provide guidance.
