Position Summary: 
The Mentoring Coordinator initiates, facilitates, supports, and monitors the mentoring relationship between a 
youth (the “Little” or “Mentee”) in need of academic support and an adult volunteer (the “Big Sister” or 
“Mentor” ). Recruiting, interviewing, screening, training, and supporting volunteers, as well as ongoing record 
keeping via database management, are key components of this position. 
 
What you will be doing: 
Case Management 

 • Conducts intakes with potential Littles / Mentees and their parent(s) / guardian(s) – explains the 
program, prepares case histories, assesses child and family needs and strengths, refers families to 
additional programs and resources as appropriate / necessary 

 • Interviews Big Sister and Study Buddy Volunteer applicants; provides assessment on suitability for the 
program; conducts training and orientation sessions for approved volunteers; manages and documents 
volunteer correspondence 

 • In accordance with Big Brothers Big Sisters’ National Standards, maintains ongoing contact with the Big 
Sister Volunteer and Little / Mentee (and their family) to ensure a supported, successful, and culturally 
responsive &amp; appropriate match; 

 • Monitors each match with particular attention to Little / Mentee’s physical, mental, and emotional 
safety &amp; wellbeing 

 • Develops and implements appropriate match support strategies as necessary (increased levels of 
monitoring &amp; support, connections to additional resources, etc.) 

 
Database / Client Records Management 

 • Ensures client and volunteer files are accurate and up to date 
 • Documents interviews, check-ins, conversations, emails, etc. with mentoring matches and produces

What you bring: 
Experience &amp; Education 

 • Minimum 2-year post-secondary diploma with related work experience (required) or a bachelor’s
degree in social sciences or humanities (preferred)

 • 1 - 3 years direct program delivery experience working with children and families, ideally in a not-for-
profit social services organization

 • Demonstrated knowledge of community-based programs and provincial support systems for youth &amp;
families is preferred

1:1 Mentoring Coordinator (Contract)

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada is recruiting for a full time (35 hours per week), contract position of Co-ordinator, Co-operative Housing Development for a period of 3 years starting as soon as possible. The position may be located at any CHF Canada office (Toronto, Ottawa, Truro or Vancouver) on a hybrid basis (with possible consideration for remote options). Under the direction of the Manager, Co-operative Housing Development, the Co-ordinator, Co-operative Housing Development assists in the identification and evaluation of prospective co-operative housing developments. The Co-ordinator assists the Program Manager, Education Services with resources and programming for co-op member education on the topic of member-led development projects, which may include the preparation of educational materials. What we’re looking for:<ul><li>A graduate degree or diploma, or professional experience, in a related field such as Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate or other. PMP certification is an asset.</li><li>Five years’ residential real estate development experience. Reporting to the Vice President, Cancer Support, Programs and Services, the Sr. Manager, Child 
Youth and Family Program is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership on the 
development, implementation, evaluation and sustainment of children, families, youth, young 
adults programs across the country. This includes overseeing the Camp programs that runs in the 
Atlantic and BC that help create a safe and supportive environment for children and youth living 
with and beyond cancer and their families at summer camp and during year-round programming, 
and activities to support and prioritize the lived experience of adolescent and young adult (AYA). 
 
This position involves frequent traveling. 


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: 

1. Camps Strategic and Operational Plan 

 • Leads national camp programs planning for future program advancement. 
 • Provides operational direction in the development and implementation of all year-round 

and summer programming in consultation with the Manager, Camps and Atlantic 
Coordinator, Camps.

 • Manages the implementation of program evaluations and integrates results of evaluations into 
future program planning. 

 • In collaboration with Assistant, ensure efficiency and oversight of processes, registration 
system, system reporting, and website. 

 • Provides oversight on promotional and communication plan. 
 • Manages the Camp Policies nationally. 
 • Manages national procurement of camp specific marketing assets and materials. 
 • Ensures that the Camps team are adapting and implementing national risk management 

measures and health and safety standards in the delivery of camps programs.

2. Oversees Adolescent and Young Adult [AYA] 
 
 • Oversee the adolescent and young adult portfolio including supervision of camps. 
 • Identify, mitigate, and manage ongoing risks. 
 • Works with the Cancer Support leadership team to identify opportunities for camp 

development or other AYA initiatives in provinces. 
 
3. People Development 
 
 • Provide coaching, oversight and support to direct reports 

 • Provide support and direction to Manager, Camps in the development, alignment and 

accomplishment of objectives through training, quality and development opportunities for 

staff within the portfolio. 

 • Provide support and direction to Manager, Camps in recruitment, training, and recognition of 

volunteer workforce. 

 • Work with Team People to ensure efficient processes for annual seasonal and medical team 

hiring. 

 • Creates a culture of professional accountability. 

 • Works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health &amp; Safety Act and its 

regulations and complies with the Society’s Health &amp; Safety Policy. 


4. Financial and Stakeholder Management 

 • Works with the Revenue Development team to support and pursue funding by meeting with 
donors, providing insight on program needs and collaborating on donor recognition. 

 • Liaises with Revenue Development and Communications team to connect appropriate 
families, participants and volunteers to speaking engagements or revenue development 
opportunities. 

 • Attends events as needed to support fundraising efforts. 
 • In collaboration with the VP, Cancer Support, Programs and Services, negotiates contracts and 

legal requirements to ensure successful delivery of programs.

continuously expand relationships with hospitals, UBC, Atlantic Camp facilities, camping 
associations locally and nationally, camping programs and organizations that run health 
related camps 

 • Responsible to provide strategic support to CCS camps and child and youth programs across 
Canada. This includes leveraging Camp Goodtimes - BC infrastructure [e.g. booking systems, 
relationship with camping bodies, marketing and digital assets, policies and processes etc.] to 
help support other similar CCS programs across the country. 

 
 
5. Other Duties

The Drop-In Centre Supervisor will work in equal partnership with all other programs and services (internal and external) to increase our capacity to provide participants access to opportunities to make free, healthy and positive choices.&nbsp;This role is significant in its approach: stronger in-person supports for participants through program delivery and file management while connecting participants to all WISH programming and community allies. This position requires a strong understanding of all programs and services that operate at WISH, communication (verbal and written) and time management between programs.
