Specialized Youth Supports Manager&nbsp;Competition #50-25Working within the mission, vision, values, and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the Program Manager is responsible for the management, quality, and supervision of a complex, multi-site portfolio, including managing a youth safe house, pre-employment program, arts program, 2SLGBTIA+ program and overseeing the Reaching Home subsidy program. Volunteers meet once-a-week for 90 minute sessions during afternoons over a 10 week period, and work on numeracy, activities, and games. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. Our Math Mentors are<ul><li>Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Available to meet once weekly during weekday afternoons between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for 90-minutes for in-person sessions, or 60 minutes for virtual sessions.</li></ul>Our Mentoring with Math volunteers are asked to enroll in two 8-10 week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program. Overview of My Lions Gate BREAK Program 
 
My Lions Gate BREAK (MLGB) is an adult day program for individuals with mild to moderate dementia. 
The program runs every Monday and Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Our goal is to support and 
enhance the quality of life for each program participant, while providing a period of respite to their 
family caregivers. 
 
Overview of My Lions Gate BREAK Volunteer Role 
 
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate volunteer to support our My Lions Gate BREAK 
program. This is a meaningful volunteer opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, 
values inclusion, and is comfortable supporting individuals with mild to moderate dementia. The MLGB 
Volunteer will work alongside the MLGB Program staff team in maintaining a respectful and supportive 
environment. 
 
Volunteer Description 
 

 • Assist with set-up and clean-up of the program space 

 • Engage with participants to help them feel comfortable and included

 • Support staff in recreational and therapeutic activities like art, music, games, and conversation 

circles 

 • Accompany participants on a short daily walk

 • Energetic and passionate about working with seniors with dementia and creating a warm and 
caring environment in which they can thrive 

 • Knowledgeable of the issues associated with dementia 

 • A great listener and team player who is patient and kind. 
 

Additional Criteria 
 

 • A successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check will be required prior to the start of 
volunteering (at no cost to the volunteer) 

 • This position requires a time commitment of 2 to 4 hours per week either on Monday or 
Wednesday between the hours of 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 

 • A commitment to volunteering for minimum of 6 months.

The FPR Program supports families to connect to their Indigenous culture and to strengthen identity and self-esteem. It works with culturally based and holistic healing approaches to address physical, mental, and spiritual needs. It seeks to support the Indigenous beliefs, values, cultural practices, and resources that are identified by the family as meaningful.Reporting to the Family Preservation Manager is responsible for supervising the daily operations of a Family Preservation and Reunification counselling team in the context of Restorative Indigenous Child Welfare practice. The position has responsibility to plan, develop, manage, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of services within the context of a Family Preservation team. The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical supervision, planning, coordination and administration of volunteer mentoring, in-home-services and self-help mutual aid groups. The position is directly accountable for the quality of service to clients and for setting and monitoring standards in a manner that is culturally sensitive to Indigenous people. Utilizing the Restorative Supervision Model, provides direct supervision and coaching to workers in the Family Preservation team. Provides vision, direction, guidance and leadership to his/her direct reports and others. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible to provide joint supervision for the Child and Youth Wellness Counsellors with the Director and Family Preservation Manager position. The clinical supervision would be provided by the Clinical Supervisor.The Clinical Supervisor supports the work of Counsellors and assists in stewarding the program to stand with and help families to:<ul><li>Engage positively with the child welfare system.</li><li>Strengthen connections to their culture and Indigenous community(ies).</li><li>Access community resources to meet basic needs such as safe housing, medical care, and food security.</li><li>See their children as sacred bundles and parents as sacred life givers.</li><li>Improve parenting confidence and abilities.</li><li>Strengthen relationships between families and children placed out of their homes.</li><li>Increase understanding of historical, intergenerational, and personal trauma, and promote healing.&nbsp;</li></ul>The Clinical Supervisor is directly accountable for the quality of service to clients through Counsellors, working collaboratively with referring VACFSS Programs, setting and monitoring standards in a manner that is culturally sensitive to Indigenous people, reporting requirements and working within financial policies.
