CASE MANAGER – CRISIS (CONTRACT) (55-25) 

 
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Purpose of the Position: The Case Manager is responsible for carrying out case management, psychosocial 
rehabilitation, crisis intervention and treatment for individuals living with mental illness. This team member has 
the clinical skills and experience necessary to assess, plan, develop, co-ordinate, and provide treatment by 
way of rehabilitative and supportive services in a multi-disciplinary environment. The Case Manager develops 
supports and opportunities for clients to increase or develop new skills needed to support success and 
satisfaction in their daily living, learning, working and social environments with the least amount of professional 
intervention required. This team member will be an expert in engaging the community and developing a 
network of landlords, community service providers and clients in the District of Muskoka. 
 
Education and Qualifications: 

 • Bachelor’s degree in a human service/health science discipline relevant to the position. Equivalency 
may be considered for a combination of educational experiences. Examples of equivalency include; 

o Mental Health related diploma with relevant work experience PLUS registration with a regulated 
health professional college 

 • One year of experience working with persons who have mental illness and/or developmental disability 
and/or substance use issues preferred, plus experience in providing one or more of the following; 

o supportive counselling 
o case management 

o crisis intervention 
 • Manage internal and external relationships, to have and demonstrate empathy and compassion, to be 

aware of emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and the understanding of the feelings, ideas and 
beliefs of others. 

 • Familiarity with the Residential Tenancy Act. 
 • Indigenous cultural awareness and education is an asset. 
 • Ability to work autonomously as well as cooperatively within a team environment in a rural setting 
 • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills 
 • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, the Internet, and data management software 
 • A willingness to serve clients within the communities of the District of Muskoka and Parry Sound 
 • Bilingual in French/English language considered an asset 
 • May be required to transport staff and/or clients of the Agency and therefore you are to hold a valid 

Ontario G or G2 driver’s license, have a reliable means of transportation and appropriate insurance for 
work purposes on your vehicle with a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability coverage.

Salary scale: $29.26 – $38.32 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience

Purpose of the Position: 
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled professional to provide culturally responsive 
mental health and addiction services for Indigenous individuals (First Nations, Métis, and 
Inuit) within the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound. This role is designed to be flexible, 
with responsibilities including comprehensive mental health and addictions case 
management, psychological rehabilitation, crisis intervention, and treatment. The 
successful candidate will be placed as either a Case Manager or Therapist based on their 
qualifications, experience, and expertise. 
 
This position will work collaboratively with community partners, Indigenous knowledge 
holders, and the broader B’saanibamaadsiwin team to deliver culturally safe care, 
empowering clients and their families toward healing, resilience, and overall wellness.

Education and Qualifications: 
 
Case Manager: 

 • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in human services, health sciences, social work, or a 
related discipline. 

 • Equivalency will be strongly considered for candidates with significant relevant work 
experience and/or lived experience in mental health and addictions services. 

 • Experience providing supportive counselling, case management, and/or crisis 
intervention. 

 
Therapist: 

 • Bachelor's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, or 
equivalent human services field. 

 • Current registration in good standing with a relevant professional regulatory body 
(e.g., College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, Ontario College of Social 
Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Nurses of Ontario). 


 • Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic interventions to individuals, 
families, and groups. 

 
Qualifications Required for Both Roles: 

 • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, practices, and historical contexts, 
including impacts of colonization, residential schools, and intergenerational 
trauma. 

 • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous communities within Muskoka and 
Parry Sound traditional territories. 

 • Experience collaborating effectively with elders, healers, and Indigenous knowledge 
holders. 

 • Experience and/or willingness to learn and apply culturally safe practices within 
mental health and addiction services. 

 • Knowledge of best practices in addiction interventions, concurrent disorders, social 
determinants of health, and community resources. 

 • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
 • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, 

particularly in rural settings. 
 • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and client information systems. 
 • Valid Ontario G or G2 driver’s license and reliable transportation. 
 • Flexibility to participate in after-hours 24/7 on-call rotation, including evenings, 

weekends, and statutory holidays as required. 
 • Bilingualism in French or fluency in an Indigenous language is considered an asset. 

 
Major Responsibilities: 

 • Provide culturally safe, client-centered mental health and addictions services, 
including assessment, supportive counselling, crisis intervention, and treatment. 

 • Develop individualized care plans and coordinate referrals to appropriate 
community resources. 

 • Facilitate psycho-educational groups and community-based wellness initiatives. 
 • Maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, health services, and 

Indigenous organizations.

program and requires knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and language.

Purpose of the Position: The Indigenous Addiction Worker/RAAM Clinician provides culturally 
responsive addiction counselling and support services to Indigenous individuals and families 
experiencing substance use challenges within the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound. This 
role includes comprehensive assessment, care planning, referrals, and supportive counselling, 
alongside community-based case management. The clinician works closely with community 
partners, including Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinics, family physicians, 
hospitals, and withdrawal management services to deliver effective, holistic care. This position 
is part of the B’saanibamaadsiwin program, which strives to provide culturally safe and 
community-driven mental health and addiction services. The successful candidate will be 
supported by the broader B’saanibamaadsiwin team and regional addiction and mental health 
resources.

 • Awareness of the historical and current contexts affecting Indigenous health, including 
colonization, residential schools, treaties, and land claims. 

 • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, emphasizing 
empathy, compassion, and cultural sensitivity. 


 • Ability to manage a varied workload, including responding effectively to high-risk 
situations. 

 • Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office suite, client information systems, 
and remote communication tools. 

 • Bilingualism in French or an Indigenous language is considered an asset. 
 • Valid Ontario G or G2 driver’s license, reliable transportation, and appropriate insurance 

coverage ($1,000,000 liability minimum). 
 • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required. 

 
Major Responsibilities: 

 • Provide culturally competent addiction counselling, assessments, and case management 
services. 

 • Develop individualized care plans, coordinate referrals, and advocate for client needs.

management services, and other community partners.
