Food For The Poor-Canada (FFTP-Canada) is a faith-based organization that works to strengthen communities and uplift individuals through sustainable development initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean. Since 2008, Food For The Poor-Canada has been working with a trusted network of associated organizations in Florida, Jamaica, Haiti, Guyana, and Honduras to create lasting impacts in the areas of food security, housing and community, education, economic empowerment, and health.Your OpportunityWe seek a Director, Philanthropy and Engagement to work closely with the Executive Director and lead FFTP-Canada’s efforts to connect Canadians with Food For The Poor’s work through philanthropy. The Director, Philanthropy and Engagement will play a pivotal role in advancing fundraising efforts through meaningful, relational, and efficient donor experience, while envisioning the growth of the development team.Nature and Scope of Your Role<ul><li>Contacts: This is an external facing position representing FFTP-Canada and requires significant levels of networking and relational engagement. Must be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders including executives, board members, volunteers, industry partners, and community leaders.</li><li>Level of Responsibility: This role requires the ability to independently work and introduce new initiatives. This is position is able to expand into a supervisory position. Recommendations and/or guidance to colleagues is currently required. ABOUT CAMP POTLATCHCamp Potlatch, a wilderness Summer Camp and Outdoor Centre located on 133 acres along the picturesque shores of Howe Sound, is operated by BGC South Coast BC, which provides a wide range of social development and recreational services to children, youth, and families in the Lower Mainland.Camp Potlatch is a rustic wilderness site that provides a natural gateway into the rugged landscape of British Columbia’s South Coast. Sandy beaches and unspoiled hiking territory create an idyllic environment to work, explore and play! Even though it is less than an hour from Vancouver, the camp is truly isolated in pristine wilderness and is only accessible by boat. Adventure starts here!SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITILIES&nbsp;Reporting to the Director of Camp and Facilities, the Camp Potlatch Coordinator will act as a key member of the leadership team at Camp and fulfill a wide range of duties relating to Camp programs, facilities, administration, marketing &amp; promotion, and human resources.&nbsp;The Coordinator position involves overseeing the day-to-day functioning of Camp Potlatch during the summer season and the Outdoor Centre programs during the spring and fall seasons. Camp Potlatch is a boat-access-only site and the Coordinator will be generally based at Camp from May to October while programs are being delivered.JOB DUTIESWorking closely with the Director of Camp and Facilities, the Coordinator:<ul><li>Oversees the day-to-day functioning of Summer Camp, including the supervision of approximately 50 staff and 135 campers on site during each session.</li><li>Participates in the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Outdoor Centre.</li><li>Ensures that Camp Potlatch operates with the highest degree of health and safety standards for camper care, program delivery, food services, facility maintenance, and health/medical services.</li><li>Ensures that BGC’s program standards, guidelines, and policies are followed, and that the programs align with BGC’s mission, vision, values, and strategic direction.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensures that all facilities, equipment, and programs are managed in accordance with BGC expectations, British Columbia Camping Association standards, and legislative requirements.</li><li>Oversees all aspects of Camp programs, including multi-day, land and water-based off-site out-trips and Outdoor Centre programs.</li><li>Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff and volunteers.</li><li>Participates in budget development and is responsible for financial monitoring and tracking.</li><li>Working closely with the Registrar’s Office and BGC’s Marketing &amp; Communications Coordinator, develops Camp marketing and promotion materials and strategy, including registration materials.</li><li>Oversees kitchen functions at Camp, including supervision of the Cook.</li><li>Manages all health-related concerns of campers and staff including supervision of the Camp Nurse.</li><li>Assists the Director with overall facility management, including supervision of the Camp Caretaker.</li><li>Assists in overall Camp and Outdoor Centre program development, planning and evaluation.</li></ul>REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).</li><li>An undergraduate degree in related field, with a minimum of two years experience working in a leadership role(s) at an accredited summer camp or other large child and youth-serving recreation sector program.</li><li>Industry-recognized certifications and/or equivalent experience in kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, and lifeguarding.&nbsp;</li><li>Experience supervising, training, and evaluating staff and volunteers.</li><li>Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and supervisory skills with the ability to resolutions to issues/conflict.</li><li>Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.</li><li>Computer and data management experience, with working knowledge of MS Office and computerized registration systems.</li><li>Strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure and remain focused within a constantly changing work environment.</li><li>Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, as well as living on site for the duration of the Camp program (May – October).</li><li>Occupational First Aid Level III. They provide counselling supervision and consultation to Coordinators, develop and provide training and workshops for Counselling staff, support and enhance the quality of BGC’s Counselling services and provide direct counselling and support to youth and families.JOB DUTIESCounselling Practice Supervision:<ul><li>Provides counselling supervision, training and consultation to Coordinators of the Counselling teams to develop and enhance their counselling supervision skills and ensure quality services.</li><li>Provides guidance and support to Coordinators and their teams.&nbsp;</li><li>Provides direct consultation to counsellors on complex cases as needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists Coordinators in resolving counselling practice related performance issues.</li><li>Supervises master’s level counselling staff (as per College requirements).</li></ul>Training / Education:<ul><li>Participates in interviewing, orientation, and training of new Counselling program Coordinators.</li><li>Identifies staff training needs across the Counselling programs and facilitates staff professional development.</li><li>Develops in-house education opportunities and workshops that address training needs to build and enhance staff’s knowledge and counselling skills.</li><li>Participates in the development of training workshops for other BGC staff as appropriate.</li></ul>Quality Assurance:<ul><li>Remains up to date with current counselling best practices and theories.</li><li>Ensures protocols and guidelines for BGC’s Counselling programs are based on best practices (and in accordance with BGC’s mission, policies, and procedures).</li></ul><ol><li>Ensures all supervision and client records are accurate, maintained, and completed in conformance with BGC’s standards and accreditations.</li><li>Supports in the preparation, completion and follow up required for BGC’s successful process in the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), in specific areas of their portfolio.</li><li>Provides direct counselling service as required.</li><li>Assists the Director in evaluating Coordinators’ counselling supervision practices.</li></ol>REQUIREMENTS&nbsp;<ul><li>Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).</li><li>M.A. in counselling, social work, psychology, or related field.&nbsp;</li><li>Registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) preferred.</li><li>A minimum of 5 years of related experience in the counselling and support services sector working with youth and families.</li><li>A minimum of 3 years’ experience leading and supervising a team.</li><li>Demonstrated case management, counselling practice, team training and consultation skills.</li><li>Knowledge of adolescent development and family dynamics.</li><li>Experience working with youth who use substances, experience homelessness, or are involved with the justice system or MCFD.</li><li>Knowledge of services for adolescents and families in the community.</li><li>Experience with intervention strategies related to substance misuse, suicide prevention, abuse and neglect of children and youth, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Experience with relevant counselling techniques and therapies used with youth, families and caregivers.</li><li>Experience in assessment and documentation.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set goals and prioritize.</li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills.</li><li>Personal maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to deal tactfully with sensitive issues.</li><li>A flexible, self-motivated team player.</li><li>Sensitivity towards cultural, religious, and gender-based diversity.</li></ul>This is a regular part-time (22.5 hrs./week) position starting at $45,045 per annum , with group benefits at six months, pension after one year, three weeks paid vacation leave in first year, paid sick and personal leave, paid birthday off and up to 5 days statutory holiday substitution days per year to celebrate/recognize religious, cultural, and/or personal days that are important to the employee where those days are not currently recognized as statutory holidays in BC/Canada).HOW TO APPLYPlease submit a resume and cover letter directly to Gary Lam, Director of Counselling and Support Services <a href="mailto:glam@bgcbc.ca" target="_blank">glam@bgcbc.ca</a>. Counselling Practice Supervisor

About the Job:Reporting to the Manager of Peel Youth Village, the Supervisor of Peel Youth Village is responsible for providing supervision and mentorship to staff in a program that is located in Mississauga and incorporates both housing and a community centre. The housing component is for homeless youth between the ages of 16-24 and the community centre serves residents and the surrounding neighbourhood.&nbsp;The individual will be responsible for task delegation, scheduling, supporting disciplinary action, and/or direction to staff as they develop plans that aid in the recovery and stabilization of our clients.
