The Treasurer works closely with the Executive Director, Managing Director, and Board of Directors to ensure the financial integrity and sustainability of the organization. While staff and contractors handle day-to-day bookkeeping, the Treasurer provides leadership in financial oversight, CRA compliance, audit readiness, and reporting to the Board.This position requires both governance-level oversight and, when necessary, a more hands-on role in supporting accounting, tax filings, and audit preparation.You will work closely with the Chair as part of the Executive Committee, as well as with the Executive Director and Managing Director, to oversee the financial health of the organization by monitoring the availability and accuracy of financial statements, supporting audits, signing off on significant financial decisions and policies, and guiding the planning of re•generation’s assets, Fundraising, liquidity, debt, and investments.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Board Chair will support the work of re •generation by providing mission-based leadership and strategic governance. It will work closely in partnership with the Executive Director to ensure that the organization upholds the highest standards of governance, accountability, and transparency, and is well-equipped to meet its strategic commitments.Chair positions are unique in that they lead, represent, and organize the Board of Directors to ensure its effective functioning in collaboration with the Executive Director. Through their leadership, the Chair will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s long-term growth, strengthening its national impact, and advancing re •generation’s commitment to sustainability, equity, and intergenerational justice.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESWhile the same roles and responsibilities of Board Members apply to Board Chairs, additional responsibilities include:Efficiency and effectivenessâ Chair meetings of the Board effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process.â Ensure that Board Members are fully engaged and that decisions are taken in the best, long-term interests of the organization, and that the Board takes collective ownership.â Foster, maintain, and ensure that constructive relationships exist with and between the Board Members.â Work closely with the Executive Director to give direction to Board policy-making and to ensure that meetings are well planned, meaningful, and reflect the responsibilities of trustees.â Monitor that decisions taken at meetings are implemented â If requested, represent re •generation externally at key events, partnerships, and publicengagements, in coordination with the Executive Director.Strategic Oversightâ Ensure Board Members fulfill their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the Charity.â Ensure that the Board can regularly review major risks and associated opportunities, and satisfy itself that systems are in place to take advantage of opportunities, and manage and mitigate the risks.â Ensure that the Board fulfills its duties to ensure the sound financial health of the charity, with systems in place to ensure financial accountability.â Champion re •generation’s commitments to equity, decolonization, and reconciliation in governance and decision-making.Governanceâ Encourage positive change where appropriate.
