Purpose of the Role We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead Environmental Defence’s efforts to advocate for Canadian steel makers to commit to and map out a credible plan to reach net-zero.&nbsp; The Program Manager will be responsible for leading Environmental Defence’s efforts to build the case for clean steel in Canada, co-creating and leading the development of an overall strategy and a work plan, coordinating activities with partners, and assisting with fundraising proposal development. In this role you will work with a robust team of communications, public engagement and campaigning experts.&nbsp; Canada has reserves of high quality iron ore that could be produced without&nbsp; metallurgical coal, which could significantly reduce emissions by the steel sector in Canada and internationally. Some Canadian steel makers have already committed to decarbonization efforts and to moving to Electric Arc Furnaces (EAFs)with the support of the federal and provincial governments. Canada has a relatively clean electricity grid and the capacity to generate significantly more clean energy. But the steel industry hasn’t committed to net-zero, and progress on reducing emissions is spotty.&nbsp; Canadian steel makers could have a competitive advantage when it comes to clean steel, a product that will be in greater demand globally as the world seeks to decarbonize and reach net-zero emissions. growth by providing uniquely tailored recreational and mentorship programs. Our small group

As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals to 
ensure no child misses out on our camp experiences due to financial barriers. 


Position Overview 
We are looking for four Fundraising Support Volunteers to join the fundraising committee. As part 
of the committee, volunteers will play a key role in planning and executing events and activities that 
support neurodivergent youth and foster a sense of belonging. Volunteers will collaborate closely 
with the leadership team to develop and implement a fundraising strategy. Volunteers will work 
alongside a dedicated team, helping to organize key events such as the Camp Kirk Kick-Off, Tri Kirk 
Cup, and Camp Kirk Gala.

in fundraising, community engagement, and nonprofit development. You will work alongside a 
dedicated team of volunteers, gaining hands-on experience in outreach, donor relations, and event

Responsibilities 
ï· Identify and engage potential donors through outreach, networking, and relationship-building. 

ï· Collaborate on planning and execution of key fundraising events, including: 

- Camp Kirk Gala – Signature fundraising event (Toronto Area) 
- Tri Kirk Cup – Sporting Tournament (Toronto Area) 
- Camp Kirk Kick-Off – Highland Dance and Concert (York Region) 

ï· Monitor and track fundraising progress using a shared Google Sheet. 

ï· Develop and share best practices for fundraising and stewardship to build long-term donor 
support. 

ï· Create and share promotional content to support fundraising campaigns through social 
media, email, and other communication channels. 

ï· Support post-event follow-ups by thanking donors and participants to maintain engagement. 


Time Commitment 
ï· Attend a 1-hour virtual meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 PM Eastern. 

ï· Stay engaged on Slack by regularly checking for updates and discussions. 

ï· Complete 3-5 stewardship actions per month, such as making donor calls, writing thank-you 
notes, or sending emails. 


Qualifications 
ï· Skills in Design, Sales, or Community Engagement. 
ï· Experience in fundraising, event planning, or donor stewardship (preferred but not required). 
ï· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage donors. 
ï· Willingness to steward, solicit, and build relationships with current and potential donors. 
ï· Comfort using digital tools like Google Workspace, Zoom and Slack. 
ï· Passion for giving neurodivergent children an opportunity for friendship, belonging, and 

development, while enabling time without the mask, being who they really are.
