Youth Engagement volunteers facilitate workshops delivered in-person at high schools in Richmond, promoting mental wellness, suicide awareness, healthy relationships, and self-development.
As a Youth Engagement volunteer, you will:
- Assist in workshop delivery and classroom activities with staff facilitators
- Support group discussions on topics about mental health, relationship building, and self-development
- Maintain clear boundaries and support a safe learning environment
- Contribute ideas for outreach or community engagement
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and check-ins as needed
Minimum Requirements
- At least 19 years of age
- Strong command of spoken English
- Interest in youth education, mental health promotion, and prevention work
- Demonstrated ability to be empathetic, non-judgmental, and sensitive to boundaries
- Availability for workshop delivery during school hours (Weekdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM) at least twice (3 hours) per month for 1 year
- Ability to travel to schools and community sites in Richmond by own means
- Successful completion of Chimo Youth Engagement training and a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
- Experience in youth work / public speaking / mental health related community work is an asset
