Volunteer Position: Women’s Art Club Co-Facilitator

Name of Program: Community Development
Duration: 6 months and above
Hours Required: 3 hours per week. Ability to attend during weekday daytime hours (Thursdays, 12:30-3:30pm).

Position Summary:

The Women’s Art Club Co-facilitator will collaborate with Crouch volunteers, the Community Development Coordinator, and staff from the Canadian Mental Health Association to support the delivery of the Women’s Art Club program at Crouch NRC. The purpose of this role is to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where women can engage in creative expression and community building. The Facilitator will assist with weekly art projects, help set up and organize materials, and provide encouragement and guidance to participants. This position requires a compassionate, flexible, and trauma-informed approach in order to foster a positive and healing environment for all participants.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with the Basic Needs and Support Services Assistant to provide support and assistance to the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Women’s Art Club.
  • Ensuring that the Women’s Art Club is a safe space for all participants.
  • Ensuring participants who experience crises during a group session are treated with sensitivity and support

Key Tasks:

  • Assist in supporting art projects for once weekly women’s art group.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to set up room and supplies.
  • Help CMHA worker to co-facilitate the group and provide expertise, encouragement and support to participants, both individually and as a group.
  • Step in to facilitate group activity if CMHA worker is called away to provide an individual participant with crisis support.

Skills and Attributes Required:

  • Candidate must be female.
  • Friendly, compassionate, and enthusiastic
  • Training in mental health first aid, trauma-informed care and other relevant training an asset.
  • Flexibility in role and delivery of programming to meet participant needs.
