Our Board of Directors is composed of 12 elected Student Executives and Student Councilors from each of the different Schools at BCIT.

The Opportunity
The Wellbeing Manager is responsible for the overall success of the Wellbeing Department. They guide a high-impact team that delivers food security initiatives, provides one-on-one resource support, and organizes events focused on proactively addressing student wellbeing across BCIT campuses. Working from an inclusive lens, the Wellbeing Manager drives BCITSA’s equity, diversity and inclusion values and incorporates these values into their work, their team’s work and professional relationships. This position is also responsible for driving usage of the Student Health Insurance Plan.
What You Will Do:
STUDENT WELLBEING
- Provide leadership to the Student Wellbeing team through effective program management and financial management
- Work with the Director of Student Services to create an annual operating plan, and provide regular updates on the progress towards goals and milestones
- Work with the Director of Student Services to manage the department budget and monitor expenses and fundraising revenues
- Develop, implement and evaluate strategic student-focused wellbeing programs including but not limited to peer support programs, speaker series, workshops
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services through data driven analysis
- Implement data gathering strategies to assess and monitor student demand for current and future services and ensure student voices are incorporated into program planning by applying insights from feedback
- Apply inclusive practices to ensure services are accessible and equitable for all students
- Ensure the Wellbeing team integrates and maintains a trauma-informed approach in all aspects of their work
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Events departments to engage students with services
- Champion student mental health resources at BCIT and participate in the development of related policies and procedures
- Manage the Wellbeing case management process together with the team, ensuring timely and organized service delivery, as well as the maintenance of thorough and accurate case notes
FOOD SECURITY
- Oversee and guide the BCITSA Food Support Hub and Food Pantry programs and ensure operational efficiencies and effectiveness
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are up-to-date and effectively followed
- Ensure staff and volunteers have required training and certifications
- Generate financial and in-kind donations for the BCITSA Food Pantry and lead customer service and stewardship for donor and fundraising projects
- Support the team in the management of the student volunteer program
PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
- Working in conjunction with the Director of Student Services, develop relationships with potential partners, community groups, and sponsors
- With the support of the Marketing and Communications team, maintain existing relationships by creating impact reports, acknowledgement letters, recognition letters, and presentations
- Create an annual grant calendar and apply for funding support to grow BCITSA Wellbeing initiatives
STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN
- Educate students and drive usage of the plan by working together with the health insurance provider team and their onsite employees to develop and execute creative promotional strategies
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications department, other internal stakeholders as required, and the health insurance provider marketing team to develop effective promotional materials and strategies for the plan
- Ensure relevant BCIT departments are aware of the plan and conduct information sessions for BCIT departments such as Student Success, Rec Services, Student Health Services, Counseling, and front-line employees as necessary, and at minimum on an annual basis
- Track and report above promotional activities
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Manage and oversee all People Resource related aspects for the Wellbeing team and volunteers
- Responsible for the hiring, performance management, including discipline, and termination of department’s colleagues and volunteers
- Provide leadership to our Wellbeing team with effective communication, clear expectations, and fairness
- Oversee work relationships with and between colleagues, and address issues in a collaborative manner
- Provide orientation and coaching for new colleagues, and professional development and training opportunities
- Develop performance objectives and deliver colleague reviews
- Schedule colleagues, verify, authorize, and submit hours for payroll
- Conduct regular colleague meetings
- Manage incident and accident reporting and collaborate with the People & Culture team as needed
About You:
You are a collaborative, student-focused leader who thrives on building strong, high-impact teams. With experience in student services, non-profit, or health promotion, you bring both strategic vision and hands-on energy to support student wellbeing programs, including food security initiatives. You excel at working across teams and with partners, communicating clearly, and inspiring others through your leadership. Equity, diversity, and inclusion guide how you coach your team, design programs, and engage with students. You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments where your creativity, empathy, and insight make a tangible difference.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- University degree in a relevant field such as psychology, health promotion, social work
- Skilled in team management, operational planning, financial oversight, and internal communications
- 5–7 years management experience in a similar or related field such as student services, non-profit or health promotion
- Experienced working in a fast-paced student-focused environment
- Grant writing and fundraising experience
- Prior experience manager food security programs
KNOWELDGE & ABILITIES
- Understanding of student development theory, post-secondary student wellness needs and best practices
- Working knowledge of sponsorship and fundraising strategies
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Knowledge of Food Security within a post-secondary context
- Able to lift up to 11kg (25lbs), stand, carry, bend, crouch
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid BC drivers license
- Food Safe Certificate
- Local travel to BCIT specialty campuses and community partner locations required
