Volunteer Website Developer
OUR ORGANIZATION
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, an estimated 1 in every 50 (2%) Canadian children and youth has an autism diagnosis. While early-childhood supports exist in pockets across the country, services thin dramatically through the school years and virtually disappear in adulthood.
The Living Autism Foundation (Canada) is a Toronto-based nonprofit building confidence, belonging and understanding for neurodivergent people across the lifespan. Our work is organized around three programs: the Trailblazers Gavel Club, a youth public speaking club chartered with Toastmasters International; Inclusive Martial Arts, where neurodivergent and neurotypical young people train side by side; and The Bridge, neurodiversity education for students from Grade 2 to graduation, growing into neuroinclusion consulting for campuses and workplaces. LAF is a registered nonprofit corporation currently pursuing registered charity status with the Canada Revenue Agency, and is guided by a standing Autistic Advisory Council with real decision-making authority.
THE ROLE
The Living Autism Foundation is looking for 1 volunteer Website Developer to rebuild our website from the ground up in the IONOS website builder. The full page-by-page copy is already written, and a refreshed logo and brand palette (ink black, warm off-white and aged gold) are ready. Your job is to turn them into a beautiful, accessible, highconverting 12-page site that families trust, donors are proud to support, and volunteers want to join.
This is a founding-stage role with real scope: our website is the front door for families, schools, donors and partners across Canada, and you will shape how thousands of people first meet LAF.

Set up site structure, navigation and mobile layouts, with a Donate button visible on every page
Embed and test our Zeffy donation form, with monthly giving as the default
Build forms for school bookings, program registration, volunteering and contact, routed to the right inbox
Make the site accessible to WCAG 2.1 Level AA: keyboard navigation, colour contrast, alt text, captions, and no flashing or autoplay content
Set up page titles, meta descriptions, the favicon, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and redirects from our old pages
Write a short how-to guide so our team can update content after launch, and provide light ongoing support

Proven experience building websites with a drag-and-drop builder (IONOS, Wix, Squarespace or WordPress); please share 2–3 sites you have built
Solid understanding of web accessibility (WCAG) and mobile-first design
Experience setting up donation or payment forms, and basic search engine optimization (SEO)
An eye for clean, calm design and strong attention to detail
Clear communication and reliability with deadlines; able to work independently
Experience with nonprofit websites is an asset, though not required
Genuine interest in autism inclusion and accessibility; lived or professional experience with the autism community is welcome but not required — we'll share what we know
BENEFITS

Direct collaboration with LAF's Executive Director and Sprezza Advisory's strategic team
A letter of reference provided after a completed term of volunteering

THE COMMITMENT
This is a remote position; occasional in-person meetings in the Greater Toronto Area (South Etobicoke) may be arranged
This is a volunteer, unpaid position
Approximately 5–8 hours per week for an 8–10 week build, then about 2 hours per month for ongoing support
This is a 6-month initial commitment, with the possibility of extending into a longer-term digital lead role
We'd like to fill this position as soon as we find the right candidate 1 position is available
HOW TO APPLY
If you fit the profile above and would benefit personally and professionally from contributing your web development skills to LAF's mandate, please send your expression of interest, including your current resume and links to 2–3 websites you have built, to avi@thelivingautismfoundation.ca, with the role title in the subject line.
LAF welcomes applications from Autistic and neurodivergent people, people with disabilities, and people from all communities. Accommodations are available at any stage of the process, including interview questions in advance or written instead of spoken answers; just let us know what works for you.
