Join the volunteer team at St. Michael’s and make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors while gaining valuable experience to add to your resume. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our community, creating connections, sharing compassion, and helping enhance residents’ quality of life.
Volunteers can participate in a variety of programs and activities based on their skills, interests, and preferences, including:
Portering:• Church services• Therapeutic services• Meals• Beauty salon• Outings and shopping• Social events
Recreation Therapy:• Crafts• Bingo• Baking• Games• Reading and writing letters• Pet therapy• Musical entertainment• Art and drama clubs on Saturdays
Resident Care Support:• Helping serve meals• Setting up meal trays• Cutting up food• Picking up trays and assisting with cleanup• Accompanying residents to appointments
Hospitality & Support Services:• Kitchen support• Housekeeping assistance• Laundry support• Helping create a comfortable and welcoming environment for residents
Volunteering at St. Michael’s provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience, build meaningful relationships with seniors and fellow volunteers, and make a positive impact in our residents’ daily lives.
For volunteers serving a half-day or full-day shift, snacks and a meal are provided.
Application requirements:
• Completed volunteer application form
• Two reference forms
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 90 days
