About LALF

LALF Foundation for Women’s Health (LALF) is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to women’s health education, resources, and community support. Our work focuses on increasing awareness of women’s health issues and helping women access reliable, evidence-informed information throughout different stages of life.

We are looking for a Volunteer Research Coordinator to help strengthen the research and evidence behind our educational initiatives, programs, advocacy work, and community resources.

The Role

The Research Coordinator will support LALF by identifying, reviewing, and organizing credible research related to women’s health. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating academic research into clear, practical information and wants to contribute to meaningful work in women’s health and health equity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct literature searches on current and emerging women’s health topics.
• Review peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, government publications, and other credible health sources.
• Prepare concise research summaries and evidence briefs for the LALF team.
• Support the development of educational resources, presentations, workshops, blog content, and awareness campaigns.
• Fact-check health information and help ensure educational materials are evidence-informed and appropriately referenced.
• Maintain organized research files, references, and source databases.
• Identify important statistics, research gaps, and emerging issues affecting women’s health.
• Assist with research for community programs, advocacy initiatives, funding applications, and organizational projects where needed.
• Collaborate with LALF leadership and other volunteers to determine research priorities.
• Ensure research is communicated in an inclusive, accessible, and health-equity-focused manner.

Preferred Skills

• Strong research and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to evaluate the quality and credibility of health information.
• Comfortable searching databases and research platforms such as PubMed, Google Scholar, or similar resources.
• Strong written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to summarize complex research in clear, understandable language.
• Familiarity with academic referencing and citation practices.
• Interest in women’s health, health equity, community health, or public health.
• Able to work independently while collaborating with a small, mission-driven team.
